Have you had your ferritin levels checked?

I think Jan has said that hair loss can be caused from low ferritin.

Hairloss

Hi everyone, this is my first post. My name is Yvette

and I live in

Humble,TX.

I have had hairloss for about 10

years and I'm wondering if I should continue trying to stop it or just

live with it.

I'm taking

120 mg of armour

25 mg progesterone days 15-28

5 mg 7keto dhea

6.25-12.5 T3 SR

I'll come back and post my labs later.

Thanks

Serum iron 26 ug/dl (range:45-160 g/dl)

I take a small iron supplement which is 65mg. I'm not consistent with

it.

Sounds like you need to talk to your doctor about the symptoms, those are

all HYPO! Don't settle for in range!

I'm sensitive to medication. The doc upped my med to 150mg of armour

and it was too much for me. I might be ready now to take 150 mg of

armour. I've been overmedicated before and it was horrible. I'm

trying to avoid that. Hypo and hyper symptoms are so much alike.

You really need to work on building your ferritin. My doctor likes to see over 100. Low ferritin can cause an intolerance to a good dose of Armour. Have you had your adrenals checked?

Are you taking it all at once? Many people find that splitting the dose

during the days helps. That's because you body would make T3 during the

day as needed, not all at once. So your body is normally ready for more in

the afternoon. Do you get fatigued in the afternoon? I would talk about

that with your doctor. Also you might talk to your doctor about your

Iron dosing as well. They might be willing to recommend a higher dose,

but each person is different. Also any adrenal issues? Have you had an

AM cortisol test?

When I read the symptoms I thought adrenals. To me the thyroid and

adrenal symptoms are hard to separate as these two systems are so

interdependent. Have you checked into your adrenals.

I had my adrenals checked in July and they came back normal. The doc put

me on cortisol anyway because of my symptoms.

I do split my dose which helps me tolerate my meds better. Also I forgot

to tell you guys that I take 5mg of cortisol. For some reason my doc

didn't want me to take a iron supplement. He told me to eat sunflower

seeds or food with iron.

An 8 AM cortisol just measures your cortisol at that particular hour. It needs to be fairly high in its range. Yvette,

Do you have a copy of your labs? If so please post the test with the lab,

the lab range and the result of your test. That will help greatly. AM

Cortisol is a blood test that is drawn by 8am to test the level of cortisol

in your blood. It should be at it's highest point then...lowest at midnight.

Oh, btw..5mg is a small dose..what time do your take it? Was the doctor

going to raise it over time. While everyone is different, a lot of people

get worked up to between 15-20mg. I would talk to the doctor about the

dose and the future.

I take cortisol in the morning. Dr. Ellsworth tried to reduce it but

I had allergies and fatigue so he went back to the orginal 5mg. I'v

often wondered if I needed more. I could increase it myself because

the pills I have come in 2.5mg.
