Let There Be Peace on Earth

You have probably heard of the song,

Let There Be Peace on Earth. It was written in 1955

by Jill and has been sung by millions of

people worldwide since then. Born in 1913, Jill's

mother died 3 years later. In her foster home there

was little love. She dreamed of being an actress, and

did get to Hollywood. She had parts as a leading lady

in Westerns, and married a write/composer who turned

producer. The glitzy Beverly Hills life, though, didn't sit

well with her. When her husband divorced her, she saw her

dreams evaporating and decided to commit suicide. But

Spirit had other plans for her and her attempt failed.

She discovered a spiritual philosophy during her recovery

(Science of Mind, the same one Louise Hay found.) Her

spiritual self blossomed, and when she met Sy they began

collaborating on songs- 85 altogether. One of these songs was

Let There Be Peace on Earth. Those who met her in those

later years experienced her as an inspirational presence.

She died peacefully in Hawaii in 1995.

As we go into 2007, may we each hold a vision of peace

on earth in our hearts. And for this week, that is the only tip we need.

Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me

Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be

With God as our Power, loved ones all are we

Let us walk with each other In perfect harmony

Let peace begin with me, let this be the moment now

With every step I take, may this be my joyous vow

To take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally

Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me!!
