Guest guest
Hi ! Don't worry if you have a quick weight gain like I did the doctor will most likely have you stop it, as the more weight we gain the more pain we are in. I have joint knee effusions and Rheumatoid arthritis, so in my case even if the Lyrica helped, that 9 pounds was going to kill my knees. My wellness doctor that took me off it has a specialty in weight management as well and he had mentioned that had happened to two other patients. It may not happen to all though, since all of our bodies are different, we all have different metabolism rates, and I am mostly bedbound due to the RA/FMS/CFS. I know sometimes when beginning a new med and if the side effects say may cause drowsiness, I usually get it. I think I took my Lyrica in the morning as I take Lunesta at night for sleep as well as other meds that make me tired. If you just started it it may take a couple of weeks to adjust. I really hope it works for you because its an amazing medication! I am back to the Cymbalta but have to take the lower dosage (60mgs) and 120 is the dosage they have found to be most effective in treating FMS. After being on it for a year though it began to make me really moody and depressed all of a sudden, and that wasn't very good for the FMS or myself in general. I'm doing ok though, its the RA that is kicking me right now:) Gentle Hugs --- Getter wrote: > Hi all, I'm fairly new, trying to learn more by > reading through > messages rather than ask questions. Guest guest
Hi , I've been on Lyrica for about 3 or 4 months now. I never had any more sleepiness or lethargy than usual. Actually, I was able to do more because the pain was so decreased that I realized how much I had not been doing just because of the pain. I didn't have the huge weight gain issue either (however since Thanksgiving that may have changed a bit :-) I'm on 100 mg. 3x/day. If what you're describing had happened to me, I'd be suspicious of a drug interaction with the klonopin. Did you just start the klonopin too, or have you been taking it for a while? Hope it helps S. > Hi all, I'm fairly new, trying to learn more by reading through > messages rather than ask questions. Read through a few post re: lyrica > but none addressed my ? Guest guest
Hi , A friend with fibro told me that Lyrica does the same thing to her. She continues to take it anyway .... I opted out, myself, since I don't need more fatigue in my life! Take care,
Guest guest
Thank you for the reply. You are right, I need to give the med a chance, hate to discount it, especially if it is the best thing out there for FMS at this time. Maybe I will get used to the morning Klonopin/Lyrica stupor. Take care, > > Hi ! > Don't worry if you have a quick weight gain like I did > the doctor will most likely have you stop it, as the > more weight we gain the more pain we are in. Guest guest
... I don't reply much, but thought I would on this. I went to a new dr (deals in FM) and they took me off of my meds I was taking and gave me a slew of new ones. I called my dr and asked him if he wanted me off of what he had me on and he said no. I am on Neurontin, Effexor, Lortab, Provigil (I have Narcolepsy), Arthrotec & Flexeril in the AM - (plus Synthroid-(hypothyroidism), Ziac & Dyazide-(High BP).. then in the afternoon I take another Lortab & the Neurontin... at night I take Lortab, Arthrotec, Neurontin, Soma & Trazodone. They wanted to put me on Lyrica instead of Neurontin & Lunesta instead of Trazodone. I took the Lunesta one night and I had the worst nightmares that I've ever had... then someone on here told me that they took the Lyrica instead of the Neurontin and they had seizures. I asked my doc and he said don't take them. One of the other docs in the office approached me about doing a clinical study of a new med for FM. My doc had a fit. He said that they would take me off of all my meds and leave me off them for at least 2 weeks for this study and then start all over seeing what would work for me. Heck... I'm doing ok on what I'm on lol... anyhow.. i'm getting a book going here.. lol.... I have been diagnosed since 2003 with the FM... but have had symptoms since I was in highschool.)almost 40 yrs now.. (UGH)... My sister (3yrs younger), has MS.. it's the one that doesn't go into remission. We don't know how long we will have her with us, but my symptoms have been parallel to hers. I had the MRI to check for MS and I'm good...They have published a paper for MS that said that the Epstein Barr syndrome or Mono seems to have run the course first with both illnesses. Well, take care all. I'm changing my email and will have to pick a new name on here... hope to here from you all still --- Getter wrote: > Hi all, I'm fairly new, trying to learn more by > reading through > messages rather than ask questions. Guest guest
Hello , I just wanted to chime in, since I have been taking Lyrica for several months now. I am on about 8 meds a day; at night I am taking Ambien CR (insomnia), Requip (RLS) and Lyrica (FM). I also take Cymbalta which helps with neuopathy as well. I have found that recently my RLS has been getting worse (which is controlled by an increase in dosage), but that Lyrica has actually helped me pretty well with general nuropathy, most specifically a bout of Occipital Neuralgia--which presented itself as a hypersensitivity (and constant pain) in the occipital region of (the back of) my head, and into my neck. It was so bad, that I could not lay my head on a pillow to rest or sleep. This, on top of chronic insomnia and CFS, was most frustrating to say the least. Anyhow, I wanted to say that I have had no apparent difficulties using Lyrica thus far, in conjunction with Requip and Ambien CR. I am certainly not " cured " , but it has given me noticeable pain relief for my severe Occipital Neuralgia pains. Loving hugs,
