New to group

Hi, my name is Terry. I am 40 years old and new to this group. I

have

an autoimmune condition called Polyarteritis Nodosa which is

inflammation of arteries causing decreased circulation to organs.

in

My case my liver and intestines are affected. I live with a lot of

pain. I currently am on chemotherapy and steroid treatments whcih

are

helping but have to live with a lot of pain. I have had this for

nearly 10 years. It took nearly 8 years and many docs to figure out

owhat I have as it is quite rare. I currently take Methadone and

Oxy

IR for breakthrough pain as well as neurontin. The majority of pain

is in my stomach, very bad. I also have terrible digestive

troubles

related to the disease. I have tried MS contin but it quit working

after a while. I am becoming more and more tolerant of these drugs.

It is not recommended I have a nerve block although an

anesthesiologst would love to get their hands on me. I didn't

know

how to post as there was no option on the lefthand bar at this site

so I don't know if I am doing this right. I hope to learn how

others

manage with severe pain day in and day out. It gets quite

isolating. Thanks for allowing me to share.

I have visited BK's website, but, it was recently I found this loop and

I am looking forward to participating.

[FB] We are a loop. Is it true? Oh, yes. You're right. I can find it. :o)

I am just disappointed that the whole universe has not opened it's

welcoming arms to me with warmth, friendliness, a perfect job, a

perfect place to live and lots of people wanting to hang out with me.

If anyone relates to what I am saying, I'd like to hear you take....

And if anyone can shed some light on letting go of habitual thoughts,

please let me know the secret!

[FB] Well, I notice that my habitual thoughts spring from my habitual

beliefs. For instance, when I'm in the belief that I'm not good enough or

welcome I have habitual thoughts that people are noticing that I'm not good

enough and are wishing I would leave. The Work is wonderful for addressing

these beliefs. Here's some beliefs you might want to inquire into.

The world does not welcome me with open arms.

The world is not friendly towards me.

I don't have a perfect job.

I am not living in the perfect place.

There are not lots of people wanting to hang out with me.

Interesting, I'm trying on: I am just disappointed with myself that I have

not opened my welcoming arms to the whole universe with warmth and

friendliness, noticing that it is doing a perfect job, that I am in the

perfect place and recognizing that there are lots of people wanting to hang

out with me. I can find that one too.

Thanks for listening,

[FB] You're welcome . Welcome to the loop, -

Hi ,

I really appreciate you taking time to write me back.

I realize that my tone does not come across in my e-mail....

Basically, what I was talking about are my made up beliefs....I know

that and I am just telling on myself.

In many ways, I have been welcomed back to CA.....and some people do

want to spend time with me and

I have a great place to live while I look, if I decide not to stay

here, and I have been back not even two weeks and haven't

had time to look for the perfect job yet! I Know I am just where I

need to be. It is just these habitual thoughts and beliefs that make

me THINK something is or is not happening.

What your e-mail brought home to me is the deep pain I feel by buying

into these beliefs.

And my fear of opening up my arms to the universe with a trusting

heart.

I have a choice in the matter.

Thanks again,

Hi gang,

I was diagnosed with FM with myofacial tendencies about a year and a

Hi Jane! Miss talkin to you girl!!!

You bring up a very good point and I'd like to add to it just a tad.

I have started training my shitizu as an assist dog. He is all of 16

lbs but I have to tell you what happend. I was attempting to kill

two birds with one stone one day (was having a good day) so I decided

to skip the coffee and take him outside while at the same time, walk

to the end of my street to the postal office. (no mailmans here..just

boxes at office) We got to the street which was rather busy with

lunch crowds breaking from major factory. I stood there and

processing when was it safe to cross...and my little Gizmo gave me a

tug and pulled me accross after looking both ways that is :) When

training an assist dog it's good to take him quite literally

everywhere with you. Since my illness, my dog does not leave my

side. An assist dog can pick up things for you, be personal support

should you fall or etc. He can hold your emergency info and med list

as there are pockets in his vest.

It's a huge gratification when you teach your dog...one more new

thing. I am looking to get a larger dog though to train also as it

could be very helpful when I need help say ..getting up and standing.

You need a larger animal to help there...at least I do LMAO!

It used to be labs used almost exclusively as assist but there has

been a growing trend to have peekaneeze (butchered that one!) as

assists. I found my vest on the internet with patches. No body

questions your assist dog in public places because the laws are so

strict and the group is huge that nobody wants to tangle with those

with disabilities. You can have your dog certified as assist but you

don't have to. Every assist dog is different and trained by

you..just for you.

Let me know if anyone follows up with this as I have, I would be very

interested in discussion on how it helps you!

God Bless!

*the one with the shitizu and parrot named sweetpea!* I took that

from JANE..the one with hounds!! :)))

Hi Jane and , well I got my lil dog Seven to train this way, they use

this breed (Papillion) as disability aides a lot, though @ 7 lbs no heavy

labour! But he is very smart and alert, I'd like some resources as to how to

train him appropriately and what kind of things you can train them to do.

Hi all, and especially YOU Dutchie/ of Parrot and pup,

SO glad to hear from you, and that you are working in this way with

your dog! Here we have a myriad of problems due to laws about where

dogs are/ are not allowed. Dogs for the blind, ofcourse, can go

anywhere but notso with others unless they are being trained. If they

are being trained (and only by someone with special certification

here) they must wear a tag. The laws vary, but one good thing is

this; if laws and your situation is such, you CAN get stipends to

help with costs for your pet -oops!- I mean Assist Dog.

Mine is really more of a scare-off-the-bad-guys dog. An absolute best

friend, completely non judgemental, and incredibly devoted. Also,

nobody's fool (That is the black mouth cur dog part!). It varies as

to breed, I think. With law enforcement a guy once told me they have

golden retreivers sometimes, and there are goldens who are

sweethearts, but complete airheads when it comes towhat that job needs.

They also have some which are super sharp. I think that you can even,

in some cases, just get a young (hopefully) shelter dog,or perhaps a

shelter dog who was a pet but had to be given up for some viable

reason (i.e. the dog is housebroken; judged by the shelter not to

have bad habits). Here at our ASPCA they do evaluations of all their

dogs before putting them up for adoption; the older dogs are less

likely to be a surprise than the mix breed pups. Then again, you

might just want to go to a breeder. I am just a sucker for shelter

dogs and push that when I can; those dogs KNOW you saved their life,

and they are grateful!

Online you can find out most anything on asssistance dog by state,

town, and even get help with training! Thanks!! Love from Jane, one

with the hound and love from the hound as well!!

I have found that being scared comes and goes. When I hurt realy bad I just stay

in bad and try to sleep it off cause that is my way of dealing with the pain. It

gets me throw it. But if it is so bad that I can't sleep I try to get into some

thing funny. Roxanne

Hi sorry I haven't been posting lately. Just very down. Still waiting for my

marriage certificate to see if I can apply on my ex husbands Social security

since we co owned a biz together but he wouldn't pay me a salary. Whenever I

tried he would say how much money we already made and it would increase our

taxes. Well dummy me . He was verbally and emotionally abusive ( I already

had Fibro and CFS before he started this behavior ) So someone found a loophole

since he is over 62 and he also lied and committed fraud for not divulging

another business that he owned at the time of my last alimony order. So my

daughter returned back to Fl. after being married for seven months. Her soon

to be ex who is deaf and doesn't even read lips tells her one day that he

wants a divorce. So now I am in debt for paying for her move. She was about to

start a new job here in South Florida it is hard to find anything right now.

Sorry I am venting but very anxious , in a flare and well you get the idea.

Welcome to the group. I have Fibro, CFS, Spinal Stenosis and arthritis of the

spine. Diagnosed in my mid 30's now 52. Divorced etc. I won't even try to date

for my self esteem is so low. We are also having a problem for i don't think

my landlord is going to renew my lease and my alimony also ends in December.

Oh well. Have a great Weekend. Hugs to all.

Welcome Darlena,

I am so glad that you are here. I think you will find many understanding and

caring people here. It sounds like you have really been through the ringer

lately. I hope you will find some comfort here.

I live in Atlanta and hate to hear that your time here was so terrible.

Losing your mom is terrible enough without all of the extra drama from your

brother and SIL. That kind of stress reeks havoc with us. My deepest

sympathies for your loss and I hope that you will be feeling better soon.

Take care,

Welcome to the group Darlena

I'm so sorry to hear of all your dealing with and will keep you in my

prayers. One thing ocurred to me though about your " staying home " .

You really need to decide that yourself, yes discussing with dh is a

good thing but ultimately it is your decision. Make sure when your

sharing this with him that he knows it is your decision. If and when

you do decide you cannot work with any regularity, make sure you

apply right away for disability. Unlike myself, I did not know by

denying my disability while I tried and tried to work that 5 yrs had

passed and by the time I applied, I got bottom amount for disability

through the state. They basically use a point system in which they

grade the jobs you have worked and for how long to determine your

amount you get monthly and it goes up from there.

I am so sorry for your loss, my brother died the very same way, rare

stomach cancer before he was 42 and died 2 weeks from diagnosis. You

have been stressed to the max and that plays alot into how you will

feel in the future. I find stress makes my illnesses worse after the

adrinalin or whatever carried me through it dies down.

So you dont feel alone here, I have ME/Fibro, degenerative bone

disease since late 20's, sleep apnea and narcolepsy. I cannot

imagine you going on without meds and living with what you are

physically. I do know most recently, it is possible to get

Disibility through Social Security after first letter of denial if

you get a Attorney to take from then on. My friend who sufferes with

many things as I do had a judge decide it for her and her attorney

just called after the first denial letter and told her it went

through! That is amazing as it has taken most of us at least 2yrs to

get anything. Perhaps Social Security are seeing more of us now and

don't make you wait so long.

Seems I've rambled on now! Just know your in the right place and we

do bounce issues off each other for answers or just justification of

how we feel about things. There is a stream of information and links

added by the Alliance that keeps us up to date on the most important

things going on things that effects us most.

God Bless and get some REST! I am curious when you were diagnosed

and is there a chance of your being able to reverse your CFS (much I

have read indicates you can have full reversal if you are DX early

enough)

-OMG, to think I almost missed this thread because my email sends me

what they feel are the " important " ones. lmao!! No offence Alliance

but you got this one wrong lol

Well yah see, dis is how I did it. I got the vest for my small furby

with the patches you sew on that say " I " m working, don't play with

me " and let me tell yah..........I TAKE THE BLOODY PUP EVERYWHERE

WITH ME! If anyone questions it, all you have to do is tell them to

call ADA or American Disibilities Association or summit like dat and

Poof! Yer in like flynn! To be honest though, he has two lil

pockets on his vest, one to hold my cigs and the other for a lighter,

now if I fall say.....I'm down at his level and can just..lite up!

ROFL!

Being an equal opportunity kinda gal, where do I find small suites

for my parrot? *scratchin head, thinking what I can put in those

pockets!*

Oh do tell me more on that-- stipends. I haven't the foggiest idea

what that is.

Not long ago (before this DD) I bread Labrador Retrievers, Blacks and

yellows mainly with chocs once in a while. I donated one of the

litter to local police department on list and two to the seeing eye

foundation. Now, I need help and can't find a full bread poodle to

train! Even in shelters, they want minimal fee of 400.00 to start!

I say poodle because my friend that also has ME/Fibro has recently

gotten " johnathan " she got him trained so quickly and goes

everywhere she does. He's all work though and loves it! She told me

if I was open to the idea of bigger dog for assist (I could crush my

furbaby with one fall) that a standard poodle is what I want to find.

Really good hearing from you! I miss your helarious posts! I got my

laugh for the day...ty!

Thanks for the welcome. This last week has been a real bear with body aches and

migraines. I had a job interview Monday, drug test Tues, along with TB test. I

wondered if what they injected caused some of my flare up symptoms. Just a

thought. Anyway, I finally found out late yesterday I DID get the job! YEAH! I

will be working at Mayo Clinic here in ville, FL; more money than at my

last job that I was kind of forced to quit.

I was diagnosed with FMS about 5 yrs ago, CFS within the last yr. But the 2 are

so similar my doctors believe I've had since my 20's along with the Fibro. I

also have Hypothyroidism and they can't get my levels straightened out.

My dtr works for a SSDI atty and they have told I would be eligible if I was not

actively seeking work or working. My hsb wants me to apply, but keeps forgetting

I may not get approved for a yr and cannot work, therefore would have no income.

It would all fall on him. I hate to put that burden on him.

I have always worked and relied on no one. I raised my dtr by myself and am very

independent, to the point of being stubborn. Now I can hardly do anything for

myself or others. This has been very humbling for me. I don't believe God caused

all of this, but will use it to make me stronger and reliant on HIM.

Thankfully this job is somewhat sedentary. They also have a beautiful campus for

the patients and I intend on trying to start walking as much as possible now

that my foot is better. It's a long drive from where we live now, so we are

looking to relocate to that side of town. We were waiting till I found a job to

know where to look. I feel this is my last chance for a real job. No matter how

hard I try, my concentration and memory fail me, whether from meds or pain, it

slows me me down. I pray this is a fresh start. It's a slower paced job. I'll be

working 7-3:30 so I won't hit so much traffic.

I've rambled on enough here. Got to go and list some stuff in our Ebay store.

myself or others.
