Guest guest
This is where you need to take your research to your doctor and ask them if they want to take care of the whole person or a specific issue. If they respond a specific issue then find a new doctor! You have the right to learn from your experience and ask your doctor to consider some of the factors you are concerned about. I am going into nursing for the soul purpose of being able to provide compassionate care to people like us. I am so frustrated with drive thru care that it isn't funny. Give me a break, why do our doctors keep overlooking things? Don't they realize that we are going to talk with someone or look up information and learn from our situation? the answer to that is no, they are driven by big insurance and money, rather than the humble idea that they are human and need to take a human approach to managing their patients. Let me know what you decide to do with your information on EBV and your doctor.

Guest guest
Doctor venting is allowed and encouraged here! Don't get me started.I could write pages and pages and pages. Essentially I have received little to no care for the 20 years I have been ill.and it's taken a year of bullying on my part to get anyone to do anything, even though I am now housebound for the most part and quite crippled, with brains replaced by porridge (they should do a spinal tap for oatmeal LOL). I am just hurling myself at the medical system one more time in hopes of finding something, anything, that could help. The kind of doctor people like us need is so rare. Most of them HATE it that we go on the web to self educate when they fall so short of the task. We get conflicting cultural messages (educate your self about your health condition, make a list when you go to the doc) about how we are supposed to be patients, but when we're in the office they just seem to want to get away with easy answers to keep on schedule. And if we try and find a better one, we're " doctor-hopping " , which gives us a bad reputation! Anyway I won't go on, but I wish you luck. You really need to get to the specialist level, and even then, to the right person, who will look at things in depth. Aylwin

Guest guest
" And if we try and find a better one, we're " doctor-hopping " , which gives us a bad reputation! " mmmmmmm hmmmmmmm!! When I first started to apply for disability, that was something that counted against me. They didn't see why I was changing doctors so often. Nor care that if one neurologist was insanely condescending towards me, I was not going to see him again. Nope, I was just fussy and hard to work with... > > Doctor venting is allowed and encouraged here! Don't get me started.I could > write pages and > > pages and pages. Guest guest
Michele, never EVER apologize for venting about your doctor or .. anything here!! it's bad enough being sick with this but truly adds insult to all else when we are told we're 'malingering', when we KNOW our doctor is a cretin, and .. well, damn. I can only suggest changing doctors IF that is at all viable. I know bush-o-care has made this horrifically complex, or maybe impossible in some cases. (boy would I ever like to get him alone with a taser, lol! I will let all know if I get visited by secret service...SUCH a threat.) also I think sometimes it helps a little to make up fun nicknames for that doctor. now.. a woman doctor cannot be dr. prick, or any number on a similar line I can think of. dr seemeinaweek?? I once worked with an engineer who most of the senior mechanics there had little use for. they christened the man ' leave a note lombardi.' and to me it does sound like the doctor IS stupid. Jane, one with the hound > lol i'm not saying my doctor is stupid. It's just ... > okay examples: > they find that I have a very high level of EBV (epstein barr virus) > in my bloodstream. Guest guest
LOL! me and my mother make up slightly nasty nicknames for my doctors all the time. Only when they were not doing their job, otherwise they were safe i used to have a doctor named dr teets (the one who wouldn't send me to a cardiologist even though I was getting chest pains, and everything I would tell him, his reply was " don't worry about it " as he was convinced it was in my head. we used to call him titboy (he's not my doctor anymore) I once went to this neurologist named dr sevigny - very condescending, we'd call him Sevigny The Meanie lol
Guest guest
Well, I don't even have to make the names up - I had Malherbe (bad herb in French!) and Berg, as in Ice, she was SO cold, just to name two!
