Guest guest
I take Armour in the early am, then put some under my tongue right at noon. I then take my iron after lunch - usually about 2:30. More Armour under the tongue at 4 pm. I take all my calcium at night. It's working for me so far. Guest guest
If you have to compress the interval to three or even two hours, just be consistent about that. In your case, with your difficulty tolerating Armour, it may even be beneficial, as more of the T3 and T4 is likely to be bound and will enter your system more slowly. It is not too unusual for thyroid cancer patients with parathyroid loss to need to take calcium several times a day, sometimes very close to their thyroid meds. The solution to that problem is a larger dose of thyroid. My doc says it is actually not a problem to take the calcium and iron at the same time. keickholt13 wrote: Hello,I'm starting Armour again (keeping my fingers crossed...) and now I wondering how to fit in my iron (bisglycinate form) and calcium supplements. I know to keep Armour 4 hours from iron and calcium, but I also throught iron and calcium interfere with each other, too! I am supposed to take 50 mg iron twice a day and I try to take 1000 mg calcium divided in 2 doses as that absorbs best when split up as well, according to most everything I've read. There's not enough hours in the day! I'll be taking pills at night when I get up to use the bathroom. ;)I wonder if the iron bisglycinate really competes with calcium as it is already bound to its protein carrier and just crosses the blood barrier intact. My calcium is citrate and maleate. Can anyone please share how they manage to fit everything in? Thanks!Kathleen Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell? Check out new cars at Yahoo! Autos. Guest guest
I take my Armour sublingually and Dr. R told me it was ok to take it the same time I take my calcium, since one is absorbed under my tongue and the other is swallowed (I take one 600mg dose at lunch and then the last in the evening w/o any Armour). I don't currently take any iron, except for what's in my multi and I take that right after supper or just before bed. I wonder if the iron in the multi interferes w/ the calcium I take as well? Someone let me know what they think (and, thanks for the reply, Kathleen..it's a blood draw our work is hosting and it will test basic stuff (TSH, but not any frees and no cortisol). I'm just doing it to see where my cholesterol is til I go see Dr. R later). Thanks! Amy > > I take Armour in the early am, then put some under my tongue right at > noon. Guest guest
Is it OK to let the armour dissolve on the top of your tongue- does it have to be underneath? --- lovejoymar@... wrote: > I take Armour in the early am, then put some under > my tongue right at > noon. Guest guest
If you're doing it on top, you might as well just swallow it, I think. Under the tongue, it is absorbed through that thin " skin " and doesn't go through your tummy. Guest guest
well, I learned something new then, I have been doing it wrong. --- Martha Lovejoy wrote: > If you're doing it on top, you might as well just > swallow it, I think. > > Under the tongue, it is absorbed through that thin > " skin " and doesn't > go through your tummy. > > Marti > > On Apr 25, 2007, at 6:21 PM, Gutierrez > wrote: > > > Is it OK to let the armour dissolve on the top of > your > > tongue- does it have to be underneath? > > --- lovejoymar@... wrote: > > > > >
Guest guest
Thank you, Marti. Right now I am taking my Armour AM and 4 hours later, so iron at lunch and dinner, calcium at dinner and bedtime. But I don't know if the iron is affecting calcium absorption. Guest guest
Okay, so that's good to know! Sounds like they only interact if they are in the stomach at the same time, as opposed to the blood at the same time, if you understand what I mean. I wasn't sure if the calcium could bind the Armour in the bloodsteam or just in the stomach. I don't think the iron in your mult is a problem--but I am taking 100 mg a day, so it's a lot of iron. About your blood draw, I don't think taking your cortisol will matter, then. I guess I wouldn't take my Armour until the draw because it may affect your TSH. Guest guest
No, won't absorb through those major blood vessels that are in the bottom of the mouth under the tongue. That's the whole purpose of putting it under the tongue. Guest guest
TSH will not be affected by having taken the thyroid meds. Free T3 and Free T4 will be elevated.Kathleen wrote: Okay, so that's good to know! Guest guest
Thanks for clarifying that; I wasn't sure. That's why I am here. Re: Re: How do I fit in Armour, Iron and Calcium?
