Guest guest
Lynn, Sorry for your loss, my prayers & thoughts are with you and your family.LOL Pat,SC -------------------------------------------------------------- My dad's journey ended peacefully at home last night. He was holding the hand of his life-long companion - my Mom- at the time. His death was a relief to us all. He is at peace now. Words cannot express my thanks to all of you for the words of support and the prayers that you have sent my way through this difficult time. The lives of all of my family have benefited through your kindness. My goal to to make sure that something good comes of the difficulties that we have faced over that last few years. I will continue to work in getting information out and helping the cause that many in this place are addressing. Again, thank you for the love you have shown me here. Guest guest
Lynn, Words escape me. The sweet release of the beast is your father's final gift. I am so glad that he was not alone. May your family now find some of the peace that has been fleeting over that last few years. A special big hug to your mom. She must be one beautiful lady. In time, I hope that you continue to share your experiences here. Sending long ribbons of love into the winds and prayers unto the universe. 'The Beast' cannot hurt him anymore. NONE of our loved ones died in vain. One day there will be worldwide recognition of this brutal condition. We will keep going! This bastard LBD ... it just has to be defeated one day!!! Sending our love and prayers to you and your family. You did a wonderful job for him - we are all proud of you! Guest guest
Oh, Lynn, I just logged on for the first time today. I so dreaded seeing the subject line on your post. I am so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I am sure your emotions must be so mixed right now. You and your family are so wonderful. How special for your Dad to be able to be home holding your mother's hand when his time came. It must have been such a comfort for him. You and your mother are such an inspiration to me. I so hope I have the strength to do the same for my father. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Let us know how you are doing whenever you have time. Much love, Piper
Guest guest
My condolences to you, Lynn. The longer my mother lives in the nursing home, the more and more I am aware that there comes a time in each life when the best you can wish for is a peaceful passing. It is a blessing. But there will be a hole in your life because LBD consumes so much of everyone around it. May you find peace, too. > My dad's journey ended peacefully at home last night. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, My deepest sympathies to you and your family at this time. I guess it's a mixed blessing....although its a very sad time, you are also aware that your Dad is free now in a place where there is no LBD. Take care of yourself and know that somewhere out there in cyberspace I (and many others on the board) are thinking of you. Hugs, > My dad's journey ended peacefully at home last night. Guest guest
I have an old feeling that the death of a loved one is like the breaking of a glass....all the edges are sharp and the wound really hurts..as time goes on the edges get less painful and maybe in time all the edges smoothe out....not yet but maybe in the future....love to you. Guest guest
Lynn: I'm sorry I responded so late to your post about your dad's death. Every sentence, every word of your post to us reveals how grateful you are that your dad was able to end his life peacefully after having suffered for so long. I'm so happy that he died holding your mom's hand and was relatively tranquil. None of us can want anything but what you describe for our LBD loved ones. Peace and love to you and yours at this time. Please know we would love for you to post whenever you feel you can. I personally learn so much from people like Donna, Sally, Simmel and countless others who continue with us and help us help our loved ones. Lots of love and serenity goes out to you today from me in Toronto. Abby

Guest guest
Oh Lynn - I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. I'm glad he was home with you and your mom though .. I keep thinking about my Dad being all alone at the rehab center. We keep saying this isn't the end stage andhe will be coming home again ... but some days I wonder. he sleeps most of the time although he does know we are there - he doesn't talk - tries to say a few words but that's it. I don't know if its frustrating for him - or he doesn't really know. I hope he doesn't even know. I'll email you directly - I hope you don't mind I have some questions. I thought I'd found a friend with something in common - this nasty disease ... but God took your Dad already - I feel so bad - I have tears running down ...and I only " met " you a few weeks ago. Guest guest
Dear Lynn: I am so glad your mom has plans for the future and to enjoy the things she has been missing all these years. They do get lonely, but having the family around helps. We all visit my mom and she is doing very well now. She decided to have her left knee replaced. She had a knee replacement on her right knee 2 years ago and went very well. She is 87, but wants to be able to walk and keep up with us! She says her bad knee can only get worse. They gave so much all those years, now they have to take care of themselves and look to the future to continue contributing, in a more pleasant way. The hospice system was a great help for us as well. I am glad your mom will be helping there, but don't let it get her down. Make sure she balances it out with joyful activities as well. Hugs to both of you, Josie
Guest guest
Lynn: This sounds great. Your mom's plans for herself equate to living a life she's been thus far denied. I'm so happy for her and for you who don't have to worry about your mom grieving incessantly and not enjoying the rest of her life. That must be such a relief for you. When the time comes and my dad is no longer with us, I hope my mom has some of your mom's drive and zest! Abby
