Yes, exactly for me too. I know we didn't help out of desire for

reciprocation, but it would be nice, now that we are the ones in need.

Oh Sandrea, that's terrible! I see finding a good doctor is kinda like a man -

you gotta kiss a lotta frogs first! UGH! I think we've all had our fair share

of crappy medical care, but it amazes me that once they are somewhat stumped,

they really take it out on US! I was with the same doc for 25 years, he was the

one who dxd me with CFS 8 years ago and has since sent me to every neuro in the

county, and has had me tested for everything it seems, and STILL when I would go

in with no improvement, some things worse, he would just shake his head and say

" why can't these doctor's find MS? " I kept thinking, MAYBE.........just MAYBE,

its' NOT MS!!!!! Seems so SIMPLE to a layperson like myself!

I just happened to find a good doc, by calling a friend of mine that worked at

a local hospital in their MRI department. I know that may sound like a stretch,

but I figured, what is one of the FIRST tests a doc sends you for? an MRI -

someone in those offices may be able to refer you to a good doc???? It's worth

a try anyway

I sure hope you find someone who can help you and more importantly, support

you!

I really envy you the doctors you have. I had a recent visit with my

it is congenital (which it is not always).

Mon is right - everyone is different. Since you are on solid food, try

increasing the amount of protein in each meal - protein takes longer

for the body to digest and is slower to move through your digestive

system so helps to make you feel fuller for longer. Sometimes it also

helps if you eat smaller portions but more often - but check with your

surgeon or dietitian before you change your eating habits.

Don't worry it does get better!!!

Hello , welcome to Bandster life!

Generally, when you have your op, the surgeon doesnt put anything in the band because you have some internal swelling and they wait until that has gone down before they give you your first fill. The length of time it takes for the swelling to subside varies, so some people dont really feel hungry until their first fill and some feel ravenous very quickly! Yes, you will feel better once you have your first fill...........and its a good thing that you have been doing the Opti since September because at least your stomach isnt going from huge portions to a lot less.

You are going to have to pace yourself, for sure, which isnt easy for those of us who have been eating much more than we should, for years :)

Good luck, onwards and downwards from here!

Hello fellow banditsI have been done on the 28-1-2009, so it is now 3 1/2 weeks. Havestarted to eat some solid food, but I am not feeling much restriction, and it has been a struggle to tell myself I am full. I know it isdifferent for everyone, but does it feel fuller once you have had yourfirst fill? Thank goodness I have been on opti since sep 08, as thishas helped with the small portions I am having to eat.

Thanks Danna and Mon

I lost 55 kgs so far on opti (187.5kg started) and now I have started

eating again, the weight loss has dramatically slowed to crawl. Did

this happen to you as well?

I am having baked beans for protein and some chicken as well. I guess

I feel full eventually, but not as fast as I would like. So I am

looking forward to some fills for help

Pete,

I did start to feel a bit hungry about 3-4 weeks after the op but my

first fill helped. Just remember, and I know everyone has probably

already told you this, but it took you years to get to the weight you

were - it won't drop off overnight but it will come off.

The band is still hard work, it certainly isn't an easy way out, but

if you work with it and your surgeon you will be surprised at the

results.

Thanks again Danna

It is certainly nice to know that other people go through similiar

feelings, can relate, pass on ideas and empathy.
