Hi Barbara

Future information may mean what the company has to do for you to be safe in the work place, for example my workplace needs to let me have a 5 min break for every 30 min i sit down for my back problems and someone else has to do the heavy lifting for my knees.

if it is not about that then you need to find out why

Doctors Certificate

Hi Barbara.... I have no idea sorry. But it is going to be interesting to find out if there is anyone out there who does have the answer to this tricky question. There are many her might benefit from knowing exactly where we stand with this sort of situation.

Hope all is well in your world.

Hi

Still fairly new here - and not sure if I have interpreted this right ... But is

this about supplying a certificate to cover the time off are the procedure is

done?

I manage staff in a large organisation and it is normal when someone has been

off work for a period of time and in particular had surgery - to work with HR

rehab workers if there is anything that the employer needs to do to assist the

worker in their return to work. (eg, I had foot surgery a couple of years ago,

and they did have to make some arrangements for me - something to stick my foot

up on during the day etc)

Prior to me going off two weeks ago (I have taken holidays as well) I spoke to

our rehab officers directly and advised what I was having done and that I would

most likely not require any support once I return.

The employer has a duty of care toward their employees (as well as minimising

risk of workers compensation claims). I like to see this as them being

supportive toward the employee. Depending on an indviduals relationship with

the employer and also their own personal morale with their job, can impact on

how they view this request though. It can be viewed as an intrusion on your

privacy - or them wanting to support you - all depends on the individual

circumstances.

Hope this helps.
