If you found a particular one that was more helpful for your child but then the effectiveness wore off, how long did the child need to stay off it before it could be effective again? Also, has Dr. G used Sporonox with any of your kids? And, for those whose kids have used amph B, was this in liquid form or is there a pill form of it? Probably everyone who suffers from has an excess of yeast their body is unable to handle. When I first began Diflucan I could not handle it. I suffered from severe migraines which were so painful, I took myself off the drug immediately. Two or three years later I was able to handle Diflucan and started to feel better. It was really amazing. I was so scared to retry this med, but Dr. Goldberg advised retrying this. Find the anti-fungal that works best. You may experience some kill-off initially, such as discharge, headaches, fatigue, etc. but after a few days or few weeks, you will start to feel better or try a different one! He will probably soon go to lamisil, also. I have never seen a die-off or real changes, in general with any of the antifungals. Anyone else experience this? Defulcan give a lot of anxity, lot of figer biting, and figiting. so we stay away from it. Which antifungal does he best tolerate? Guest guest Posted January 1, 2005 Report Share Posted January 1, 2005 Barb, I THOUGHT that antifungals never made a difference for my son.....until he was on the wrong one (Diflucan). He was on Nizoral for 9+ mos and attributed all his gains to antivirals and other factors. When he switched to Diflucan he did 'not so good' for the past 10 mos. (translation: a good percentage of his time spent running in circles around the couch). Too bad it took me the entire 10 mos to figure out that the antifungal was the problem. Now he's back on Nizoral and still thoroughly enjoys running around the couch (it's become a horribly ingrained habit, too) but is doing much better overall--better eye contact, looks happier, stopped itching, stimming is more of a habit than a maniacal need, etc....... Funny thing is, he rarely stimmed before being on antifungals (pre Dr-G.) Maybe he was reacting poorly to the Diflucan--?? we even had it compounded dye-free. I don't know. It is almost un-noticeable, but I belive both of them do help. He can not tolerent Dilucan at all. But it take me about 2 month to stop it, we moved on to Lamisal. After that,I stopped Zoloft, now we stopped Effexor. I believe (feel) all three contribute to his excessive finger bitting and figiting. Now, he still bite fingers, but not as bad as past year. You may still remember I was asking about how to dealing with his excessive finger bitting in the post. He also have very nice sleep pattern now. Now he is on Prozic, Lamisil, Tenex, and Famvir, he is very responsive, have good conversation. I do not know how he will be doing in school, I hope it will be better. Yesterday, his best friends stayed for dinner, finished his food quickly and went for TV, I got him back to the table, and they started talking about something gross. He run away again, but he went away smiling and saying, " Now I got to go puk " . I thought that was a very good progress. I just hope he can hold it in school too. I just feel if you have any excessive figitting, may try change one of the med. Have a happy new year.
