Jeff,

Well put! Physical dependence is a risk we take to find

appropriate relief from our chronic pain. My pain clinic doctor

says that it is inevitable that a patient will develop a physical

dependence on any opioid medication, but the trade off is hopefully

good pain control compared to other treatments.

My situation right now is learning how to live with current doseage

and schedule. The goal is not to get rid of the pain, but to

reduce it to such a level that I can function as near normal within

my family as possible. I deliberately state " within my family "

because it would be necessary to take much more to make it possible

to function in a work situation outside of the my home.
