I think this threw me for such a loop as it has been a good 20 years since I had my thyroid cancer and because I am having so many other health issues at the moment. I think I could handle each one individually, but all at once is pretty darn overwhelming. I have to wait till Tuesday to see if I can move up the CT scans. Guest guest Posted October 14, 2007 Report Share Posted October 14, 2007 Hi Darlena Well, Mayo in Rochester (my sister lives there so I could stay with her) says they are not taking new patients unless the doctor calls that something urgent has come up in the last year and the patient really needs to be seen. They are also not taking a waiting list as they are working off a waiting list of 7-800 patients already. I called s Hopkins and they sent me a form for applying for an appointment and a list of instructions. I have to gather all my medical records together and then send that and the appointment request form all together. So, I've got a call into my internist for a referral and to get my records. I am hoping she will not fight me on the referral. I also have to send any films/MRI/CT stuff as well. So that is my project for this week. They assign a medical concierge who is in charge of coordinating appointments, finding me a place to stay etc. Once they get my records they allow 7-10 days to review them and figure out who I would need to see type stuff. Hopefully I will be approved to go there. I have flown with my scooter before. The problem is that once I get where I am going I have no way to transport my scooter from the airport to where I am going. My Dad suggested I call Mayo in ville, FL to see if I can go there and what they offer at that campus. I'll try Hopkins first and see what happens. I am calming down about the cancer stuff a bit and working on getting the CT scans moved up if possible. As to stopping getting emails, go to the web page for this group and by the name of the group click on edit membership.
