Guest guest
Thanks for the info Betsy. Man o man I feel really stupid, no one around here has told me anything about the Armour, and all they check for in my Lab work is my TSH. I can't loose any weight at all, even if I starved myself, and the female issue has really puzzled all the doctors. I also have sever pain in back and abdomen area, and lots of stomach problems with bloating & gas. Can any of this come from having no thyroid and taking the SYNTHROID??? Please help anyone... > > for all the answers i have received. > > > > Betsy, please let me know about the DO in San . > > > > Candace, can you tell me more about what you have seen Dr Mabray for, > > that is if you don't mind? > > > > Can someone please tell me who Dr. R is and where he is from??? > > > > Next question...What is ARMOUR? Guest guest
Are you going to an endo? That's about what you're going to get from them. Mine at least tests FT4, and he's adding FT3 because I'm on Armour (probably looking for an excuse to get me off it). He doesn't approve of Armour, and neither does most of the thyca community. You need to have all the hormones working in sync to feel well. Armour will most likely help, but isn't the entire answer. On 6/2/06, cagleracing9 wrote: Thanks for the info Betsy. Guest guest
No Endo...We do not have any Endo's in our area. My Oncologist, PCP, & Gyn have been handling things. Mainly the Oncologist is the one who regulates dosage. GYN can't understand my Female issues, just had biopsy and it was ok, Ultrasound showed an enlarged UTERUS but she says not to do anything about it. PCP is in the middle not understanding what is happening other than I have no Thyroid and only have 3 Parathyroids. I am tired of all of this stuff and all the different doctors. I just want some help so I can have a life! My husband would love for me to get some of my libido back and real soon!!! Guest guest
Your symptoms can come from hypothyroidism. $ynthroid gives you T4, but no T3. It is given with the assumption that everyone converts enough T4 to T3. Not all of us do. Cytomel is synthetic T3, usually taken with a T4 med. Armour has T3, T4 and trace amounts of all other naturally occurring thyroid hormones. $ynthroid is to Armour what Mrs. Baird's white bread is to homemade stone ground whole wheat. Armour is an extract of desiccated porcine thyroid glands from US-raised, corn-fed, USDA-inspected food-grade hogs. It smells bad, but it works good. I take mine with coffee and never smell it. The amounts of T3 and T4 are required by the FDA to be within plus or minus 10% of the stated amounts, just like all other thyroid meds. Most docs will not tell you about Armour or even Cytomel. Most of us found out about it on the internet and either begged our docs for an Rx or found a new doc known to prescribe it. This is why I keep a list of Armour docs (and some Cytomel docs) on our site. I do not bother listing docs who prescribe nothing but synthetic T4. The docs have been brainwashed by BigPharm to be prejudiced against everything natural, but most especially against Armour. Why? It's not just that they want us to buy their castrated, synthetic T4. They do not want thyroid patients to be adequately treated. We are their Ca$h Cow. If we were adequately treated, we would not buy all of their expensive toxic waste drugs: statins, proton pump inhibitors, blood pressure meds, NSAIDs, sleeping pills, anti-depressants, horse-pi$$ hormones, anti-anxiety meds, fertility drugs, cancer drugs, antibiotics. . . .Did I mention ANTI-DEPRESSANTS? Did I remember to tell you not to get me started? cagleracing9 wrote: Thanks for the info Betsy. Guest guest
I assume that if he insists on your quitting the Armour, you will have one more surgery: a radical endorectomy! Cut him off right where it hurts the most, the seat of his masulinity: his wallet!Betsy wrote: Are you going to an endo? That's about what you're going to get from them. Guest guest
I was just chatting via email with my mother and mentioned the story about my previous doctor going to a group, and not being able to prescribe Armour any more. This was her response: Of course you have to do what you think is best for you, but would it do any harm to try Synthroid, all other things being equal - if you like the doctor and he seems otherwise OK? Synthroid is certainly widely used and well accepted. Perhaps it's not as bad as you think. If your present treatment is not giving the results you'd like, maybe it's time to try something different.Mind you, Mom is a nurse, trained back in the dark ages when people blindly did what the doctor said.I just said, yes, I could try Synthroid, and left it at that. When h*ll freezes over, maybe. And rolled my eyes. Your symptoms can come from hypothyroidism. $ynthroid gives you T4, but no T3. Guest guest
Thank God my mom, back in the deep dark ages (1947), found a doc in Kansas City, who gave her Armour, vitamins and minerals, and told her to eat lots of beef, since he found her anemic. After two miscarriages, she was able to have....me!, a healthy 8 pound baby girl, at the age of 43! (And from what I heard, she bounced back fast after her Caesearean. Just for grins: the entire hospital bill for delivery and a week's stay was $85.00 - I have the bill which my mom saved.) Thank you, Armour. Thank you, Dr. Sophian. > > Mind you, Mom is a nurse, trained back in the dark ages when people blindly > did what the doctor said. >
Guest guest
I have been reading your posts and hope you can find a doctor who can help you on the path to feeling better! Just wanted to share that I had chronic pain in my lower abdomen and eventually back, and consistently showed an enlarged uterus on ultrasounds. I had a doctor that didn't want to do anything about it either. Well, I finally found a doctor who DID want to do something about it and thank goodness, because he removed it and it turns out I had adenomyosis. Which is typical with an enlarged uterus. Try to get another opinion. If you can't, some women have found relief using progesterone cream. And other women have found that female problems are alleviated with an adequate dose of Armour. > > No Endo...We do not have any Endo's in our area. Guest guest
, I had the horrible bloating and gas, my doc. diagnosed me with candida and since I have changed my diet and added nystatin x4/day, it has completely been corrected. I have been on this program for almost two mos. now. Apparently, it is somewhat common to have candida and be hypo. I just eat protein, less than 10 grams of carb per day. I am losing weight for the first time in nine years and my horrible heartburn has completely gone away. I had never heard of intestinal yeast infection, and he diagnosed me by my tongue and my dry skin. Hope this helps, Candace
Guest guest
Wow....Candace that sounds great. I have never heard of that at all. I am so tired of hearing .... " It is just your body becuse you have been so much, just be patient! " GRRRRRRRRRRRRR I am the one feeling all this stuff not them. FYI...I just got a call from Dr. Mabray's office and they have scheduled me for a consult on June 29th. Thanks for offering your advice regarding him!! > > , > > I had the horrible bloating and gas, my doc. diagnosed me with candida > and since I have changed my diet and added nystatin x4/day, it has > completely been corrected. Guest guest
YAY! You are going to see Dr. Mabray! I just want to share with you that six days ago, I increased my armour to 2 grains. Yesterday morning, I woke up (2 hours early), jumped out of bed and was excited and ready to start my day. Now, I was sleeping 18 hours per day just two mos. ago, so this is a HUGE improvement. I feel like a new girl. It was not a fluke, I kept my energy all day and this morning, still going strong. I am getting better! After nine long years, I actually feel good. Optimistic and willing to tackle projects. I sound like a crazed lunatic, haha. Also, this morning, I officially have had to change my wardrobe...lost another dress size! Have changed three sizes in two mos. The hardest part, for me, has been the loss of diet coke. Diet coke and I go back a long, long way. What I would do for a fizzy Whataburger Large Diet Coke is obscene. haha I am anxious to hear what Dr. Mabray says to you and what changes he recommends. Keep me posted!
