Guest guest
I am wondering where this charter school is? I would think about moving cross country for a school like that1 Shayden has now been out of school since Sept.08 all from his failed g-tube/nissen nightmare. His twin brother is going into 3 grade next fall and asked me if " Shayden is still in Kindergarden? I did not know what to say to that?We have been under Home/Hospital school orders since Feb.09 but the school district is just now starting service on7/01/10 > > I just wanted to add one thing. The man who started this charter school started it becouse he adopted twins with a disability. He wanted a better school and life for them! Guest guest
Well the beauty of school at home is that reads at third grade level, but is still in first grade math...there are no defined grades here. As for social she goes to catechism class once per week, has 3 siblings, friends in the neighborhood, and park day every Friday from 1-5. She is with children more socially than she ever was in public school, as most of the children did not play or talk due to her lack of expression in communication. Also, during class was not social, only learning. So, even though I had all four in public school they are now all home and scoring higher on standard tests than before. Do not let home or charter school become a " block " ...they are wonderful and very freeing. Just remember your family's personal and special needs and go from there. Do all research and just keep talking to other moms. I know of a few families that use a charter school and have a special needs daughter, and it has been successful for them. Just talk to families that actually utilize alternative services and programs to see how it works for them and if there any challenges they face. I am sorry I am all over this page..my computer is down and I am responding with my phone!
