That was how I was about white water rafting on the Ocoee river in TN.

I'm glad I did it, But never again! Especially when one of the big burly guys

in our group got thrown out and had to have a hematoma surgically drained

afterward. That was scary enough for me.

As far as heights go I climbed the pyramids at chichen-itza and made it

up taking it slow and easy, 10 steps at a time. Even grown men came down on

their butts because of the steep nature of the pyramids. (They wanted them

steep so when they threw their sacrifice down the steps there would be maximum

blood show) Anyway, at the top it was the most amazing view of the Mexican

Jungle and the ruins. But the platform wasn't level. I stepped back and stepped

into a hole and being weird about heights, I about peed in my pants before I

realized I wasn't falling down the other side, it was just an unlevel spot. I

had just heard the lecture about maximum blood showing when the victims fell

and I could just seem myself falling down the side with maximum blood

resulting...LOL. Anyway I scooted down the pyramid on my butt like a good little

chicken after that with the rest of the flock!

Jo, You almost have me talked into doing it one day! It doesn't Jerk you

around? I remember as a child seeing a woman getting pulled across the sand on

the beach in panama city when they couldn't lift her up. They said she lied

about her weight. So I have always been scared of that type of thing. Now if I

sat on a swing and was pulled around, that is way different. Of course being

300 plus my whole life I never thought of doing it but now that I'm only the

second heaviest one in my house(just barely heavier than ) I think about

stuff like that.

with you, it's like going to Florida to us...No big deal. It's on my list of

expensive?(the parasailing)

With the boat stopped they harness you up on a platform at the back

of the boat. When your ready the boat starts going, the parachute

takes wind and gently lifts you up. Like a kite they just keep

letting out the rope and you go higher. It's VERY gentle, a

floating on air kind of thing. NO DRAGGING you anywhere (I've seen

the pulled across the sand thing also...lol...old way, stay clear of

that!)

You do go high, but if heights alone don't make you pee your

pants... It is a quite, peaceful, sitting on a porch swing, enjoying

the view kind of thing. Being Dipped in the water and brought back

up is just playful, kid-like fun.

I flew tandem with my son . When they dipped us they left us

in the water for several minutes because when we hit the water we

started splashing each other with all gusto we could. They thought

it was funny and just left us in the water to play. When we

realized they were leaving us in the water we started laughing so

hard we could hardly move to splash each other anymore, then up we

went. Everyone else on the boat just got quickly dipped..in & out.

Honestly, it is not a Jaws thing, it is a height thing. I am a weiny

when it comes to heights. loves heights, the higher the

better. I paid $10 extra to the guy when Mike was parasailing to let

him higher.

He loved it. He was looking for the release hatch so he could fly higher!

Me, I will snorkle with whales, ride any coaster, and do various other

thrill things, but heights arent my cup of tea.

love you

Mel,

Thats the way I was on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The views

up there are glorious, breath taking splendor. But you are looking at

the canyon straight down. My vertigo kept kicking in and my stomach

was queasy the whole time. But I couldnt take my eyes off of it! We

spent a week there, and it was incredible, but the scary feeling never

went away. And I do okay with my feet on the ground, it is when I

lose touch with the ground that I lose it!

Ah, Mel,

Thats where you are wrong. It is always a big deal to me. Very

special, and I feel extremely blessed, each and every time I get to

go. One day I am going to live there....It is the only place I have

found on this earth that " feels " like home in my heart. I cry our

last day, and cry on the way home, and miss it when we are home, until

we go again.

Another place I love is Sanibel, Fl. I got to spend a day there

shelling back in 84. I absolutely loved it and Captiva, Fl. I would

love to go back some day. I think of it often- even tho I only spent

a day there....

Hugs,
