I had my gallbladder out about 6 years ago. I was in awful pain the night I went home. Maybe I'm just bad with pain! I had a stent put in my bile duct so had to have an endoscopy a few weeks late to remove the stent ( a piece of blue tubing about 10 cm long!) Can't remember why I needed the stent?

The worst part of any op, even the endoscopy, was recovery from the anaesthetic.

Once you've had one op, another one doesn't seem so bad especially if it means you'll no longer have to suffer gallstone attacks.

Interestingly gallstones are more common in women and tend to run in the family.

Hi Kate, I had mine out mid last year, and I went on a girls weekend on the GC a week later... no dramas. You will be fine... and I can assure you, my GB was much easier than my band!

Good luck... let us know when you are home.
