We have done serial casting on my son's affected leg. It did help, in my opinion

the Botox has been more effective. With the casting, there was a period of time

it hurt him to walk after the cast came off because the muscles were over

stretched. Having said that we do talk about doing it on his affected arm

because the casts provided some muscle lengthening. As for the Botox, it is

awful to go through it, but that along with the Sinimet he takes has worked so

well we have improved range and less tightness in his hand. We were doing Botox

every twelve weeks, but this time around we are stretching it to about twenty

weeks between injections. The great thing about the Botox is that it allows us a

window of time to really work with his hand and arm to teach him how to use it.

Good luck to you. I'll be excited to hear how it works. If we do it, we will do

it right after the next round of Botox.

had our first Rehab appointment today. The DR mentioned botox. I have already

turned this option down for a different issue. I can't put my child through any

pain to fix something temporarily. Micahs muscles are tight in his left hand so

we decided to go with the serial casting. He had a night splint for 5 months

that showed no improvement. He would also take it off in the middle of the

night. I would put a sock over it with a hole for his fingers, and he still

managed to get out of that. For those of you on my facebook, I had posted

pictures of straps that I had MADE, I even hot glued snaps on his splint......

My child is too smart. That didn't work either.

have to be done every so often? Or have some of you got a good outcome doing it

just once? I know this is a good option but I know if my son couldn't handle a

splint for one night, this is going to drive him insane... Would LOVE to hear

others stories about this. Thanks
