Guest guest
Hi, Well I did my shopping for the month last Friday. I have MCS and I got a chemical sensitivity after going into a shop for my son, that had carpet which made sinusitis act up. But then I was able to take a sauna and relax and took some melatonin to get a good night sleep. The trip into town is about a 2 hour slow country drive. I camp out when I don't have an extra driver to help on the way back at a resort that is unfortunately may be closing down. My son loves it there because there is a pool and beautiful with lush gardens, perfect place to recover before continuing home. So then I normally recover for about a week or three days after returning home. But 2 and a half days later a friend invites me to an outdoor dinner party that had some family from Tahiti with singing and dancing. Well the temptation got me out and that night I did not do very well with perfumes, cigarette smoke, and just going out and being in town. Then the next day I thought I had an appointment to take some paper work to the Queen Liliokalani Childrens Center to get some help because my son has Hawaiian descent. The combination of the chemical sensitivity from sick building syndrome and her not being there, caused stress. Then I went to pick up my son from the bus and checked back. She said I had to come back the next day and talk to the social worker. I called the next day to tell them I couldn't come in. I decided not to go in because it really caused too much stress. They pay these social workers 20,000 a year maybe and make such a big deal for a little help to buy school clothes that it's just not worth the risk of my well being I've decided and too much of an invasion of my right to privacy. After not listening to my body and pushing myself, my nervous system too pretty shot. I think that all the teas that I've been drinking really have helped though. I am using an old herbal book I have called the Holistic Herbal by Hoffman. I found an inexpensive company on the net and have been ordering herbs for balancing my premenopausal hormones, adrenal gland, and for calming the nervous system. It's been fun. Chemical sensitivies not always happens right away the effects. I notice sometimes I get a delayed and variable reaction. I am very much suffering and regret what I did to myself. Staying away from stress and not pushing is very important in ME, to feeling better. Any words of encouragement or wisdom would be very much appreciated. Wait I know ...try MAGNESIUM!!! All the Best, Kulia
Guest guest
Hi Kulia, it’s so frustrating to crash out doing normal, necessary, or fun (trying anyway…), things. The MCS aspect on top of ME can just be a killer. Well, I know you know to rest, rest rest! Also whatever gentle detox you can handle…even drinking lots of water, and Epsom salt and baking soda baths are a good detox if you are up to it. I totally hear you about what I call “bureaucratic” stress! I had to do a lot of advocacy etc. for both my kids, but now that they have grown up I just about can’t stand it. I am on the government disability dole…but I don’t call them asking for things, and they don’t call me. The privacy issue is a big one for dignity and self determination IMHO. Anyway I hope you have the opportunity to rest up a bit now, supplies in for awhile at least, and settle your system down again.
