Guest guest
Hi, Sometimes I still have that body wide achy burning pain with stiffness that would be known as fibromyalgia. When I started the Armour that did improve or at least the stiffness did. However, the pain with movement never went away. It hurts in my hips to walk, bend, lie in certain positions. I have had frozen shoulder in my left shoulder that lasted 2 years and even now movement is restricted. I have had severe tennis elbow in both elbows and is now mainly in the left, but I can't do much with the right arm or it flares up too. In the last two months, my right shoulder is so painful, I find it hard to even wash my hair or brush it, put stuff into the cabinet from the dishwasher, etc. It is so debilitating since I am right handed and since I have the tennis elbow in my left arm, I can't use that arm much either. Also both thumbs are extremely painful. X-rays have ruled out arthritis; I don't have rheumatoid arthritis either according to blood tests. I've had this pain for 12 years; it started when I had major surgery to remove an adrenal gland that had a huge tumor. It is exhausting, scary, and frustrating, not to mention bank account draining, to go from dr. to dr, bodyworker to bodyworker, and be told there is nothing else to do and maybe I need to see a psychiatrist so I can learn to accept what is. I have tried additional T4; it didn't do anything for anything. I haven't given up yet, but I'm close. Helen Helen: was Re: Questions for those who travel to see Dr. Hi Helen, I read your post with interest because we might be having the same type of issue. Do you mind if I ask what kind of pain you are experiencing? I have terrible, chronic, exhausting pain and I too was hoping that Armour would help. I am also at my limit there but I have read where a small addition of T4 has helped some people who have been struggling with pain. I have asked for a copy of my blood tests from the office and may call them to see what they think but I wanted to ask around/read up on it first. Can anyone else address this or has anyone else seen a relief from pain with some added T4? My Free T4 is 1.52 (range .73 to 1.95) and Free T3 too high on 3 grains Armour. It is frustrating so try to hang in there. There might not be a solution for everyone with chronic pain but I have to keep exploring whatever avenues I can. > > Thanks, Jan > > The only testing I've done for heavy metals is a very comprehensive hair > analysis test. Guest guest
Yes, I've been to see him twice; actually have his 1200 page book and read it; Dr. read it too and consulted with him about me; I did take high doses of cytomel only and then Armour; neither made a difference, so I'm back to 3 1/2 gr. Armour. When I talked to Dr. Lowe 6 weeks ago, he recommended that I try higher doses of Cortef or Isocort than I've tried before. (Dr. did prescribe Cortef for me at one time, but only at the 20 mg dose and it made no difference--we were both leary about taking more; I stopped taking it two years ago). I did talk to today and I am doing another blood test for Dr. R. on Thursday. Maybe that will lead to a positive treatment. Guest guest
I have had this problem too. With me it was low potassium. My levels were not out of range, but on the low side. I can definately tell when I haven't taken my potassium. Maybe you can ask your doctor about this? Guest guest
My blood levels are slightly above the middle; however, I had a hair analysis done and that showed a low sodium level related to potassium. The percentage is recommmended to be 2.5/1; mine was 1.33 or 53%. The report said the principal cause of a low sodium/potassium ratio is adrenal gland exhaustion; symptoms include joint pain, excessive tissue breakdown, inability to recover from injury. The report goes on to say that sodium levels are maintained in proper ratio to potassium by an optimal secretion of the entire spectrum of adrenal hormones. They recommend B, C, E vitamins as well as copper, magnesium, manganese as well as adrenal hormones. I'm taking all the supplements, as well as DHEA, but no cortisol. I know you didn't ask for all this information, but the role of sodium/potassium in adrenal fatigue is very interesting. Guest guest
Is it possible to get a hair analysis done without a doctor? Guest guest
I'm not sure; I've had two done; both had to be ordered by medical people, not necessarily doctors. An accupuncturist ordered the first one; a chiropractor the second one. This last one was far more comprehensive than the first. Guest guest
What test differentiates psoriatic arthritis from rheumatoid? Blood tests show no auto immune disease (not even hashi's) or rheumatoid arthritis. I have known people who had PA, but I don't know how it was diagnosed. Guest guest
Symptoms and SED. It tends to be in the lower limbs. But it can affect the fingers and wrists. I have swings were it affects my fingers and wrists. It really affects my lower back and hips. I also have planter facetious. And of course I have Hashi's. Yesterday was a good day for my joints. We just added another med, it's too early for it to have taken affect. Time will tell. Kate At 05:55 PM 12/4/2006, you wrote: >What test differentiates psoriatic arthritis from rheumatoid? Guest guest
I have a form of arthritis called Reiter's Syndrome which mimics RA. The symptoms are joint pain, eye inflammation, bladder and bowel inflamation and psoriasis. I have never had the psoriasis but have all the other symptoms. It cannot be diagnosed with a test, but symptoms alone. RE: Helen: was Re: Questions for those who>travel to see Dr. >>Helen,>>There are other auto-immune arthritis forms.
