Guest guest
Personally, I have asthma and my doc told me to stay away from it. She said that it would cancel the effects of my inhaler. Unfortunately, that wasn't the first time I had heard that either. Just my two cents worth ) e --- Pape wrote: > I've read a lot of goofy stuff about ephedrine. Guest guest
If you would research the FDA MedWatch reports you will find a wealth of information. Ephedrine acts as a stimulant. It is an amphetamine like compound. The warning labels clearly states: WARNING: Not for use by individuals under the age of 18. Do not use if pregnant or nursing. Consult a physician or licensed qualified health care professional before using this product if you have, or have a family history of, heart disease, angina, thyroid disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, recurrent headaches, bleeding disorder, depression or other psychiatric condition, glaucoma, difficulty in urinating, prostate enlargement, or seizure disorder, if you are using a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) or any other dietary supplement, prescription drug or over-the-counter drug containing ephedrine, pseudoephedrine or phenylpropanolamine (ingredients found in certain decongestants, allergy, asthma, cough/cold and weight control products). The maximum recommended serving of ephedrine for a healthy adult is 100 mg in a 24-hour period for not more than 12 weeks. From the FDA web site: Possible adverse effects of ephedrine range from clinically significant effects such as heart attack, stroke, seizures, psychosis and death, to clinically less significant effects that may indicate the potential for more serious effects (for example, dizziness, headache, gastrointestinal distress, irregular heartbeat, and heart palpitations).
