Guest guest
Well this reply is a little late but I've had great results with taking both Lysine tablets and Lactinex (in other words, I do both). You can get the Lactinex at the pharmacy counter -- you don't need a prescription but they have to keep it in the refrigerator (and so do you). Then you take 3 or 4 of those little pills every 3-4 hours. Once when I started to get a cold sore while driving from Wyoming to California (long trip home!) all I had was Blistex and I kept swabbing that on my lips until I could get home to the Lysine and Lactinex. Worked fine. good luck, Louise Kimmie wrote: > Hi all. I woke up this morning with the beginnings of a cold sore. > Does anyone know how to nip it in the bud? I haven't had one in a > long time. Guest guest
As soon as you feel a cold sore, eat yogurt three times a day. There is also a perscription Denavir that you put on as soon as you feel a cold sore, I got several samples from my internist last time I was in so that I have it on hand. You need to put it on as soon as you feel the sore to be most effective, it works after you have blistered also. The non perscription is zilactin. Guest guest
....I have used the Denavir (prescription) it worked after nothing else would. i also used the capsules (can't remember the name, anyway the denavir counterpart, in oral capsule form) which works great. Since using them, I hve not had an outbreak in close to two years. On Friday, May 31, 2002, at 12:18 PM, Kimmie wrote: > Thanks everyone for your input! You guys are great. Guest guest
Hi, Donna, I have gotten must be houndred of them since very young, so here is my guess for why this repeat so often: 1) eat too much Fried food. 2) eat too much lam meet. 3) eat too much hot pepper. 4) eat too much tangerin. 5) eat too much oven dried sun flower seed, beens or any hard stuff. 6)wearing too much cloth on warm days. To me, eat anything in one of those catagary, or other hot, hard, dry stuff for a few days, my code sore will come up. It will last about a week, I can even feel is coming by the tinkling feeling on the corner of my moth a day or two before. I can tell it the day before It break out, it usually fully break out already when you gets up at morning. Past a few years, I started to apply the over the counter CARMEX " for-cold-sores " on it before it fully break out ( or as soon as I feel it), So I have be able to elimited a painful full break out. If I do it before the full breakout (which means its blister already fully read and painful), I can get away with a little red rash, which is gone in a day or two. Your son may be able to tell you when the corner of his mouth started to bother him. Try it out see if it helps him. I usually applied the cream with a Q-tip. The only thing to prevent it for me is to watch what I eat. If I eat those offending food, I try not eat too much in a long period, and also try to balance it out by drinking a lot of water, eat a lot of fruit and vegitables but not Tangerine. Tangerine is different, it tast very good, but if you eat one too many, it has same effect as eating those dried food on your body. But the best option is not eat them often. Good Luck. Guest guest
also, apply CARMEX cream after full break out, does seems short it, and also will make him fee much better. I belive you can find it in any drug store for little over a dollar. It has a yellow cap.
