Re: Ear tubes, Adenoids and Tonsils - Cranial Osteopathy helped my daughter

Hi, I just wanted to chime it and mention what ended my daughter's

constant ear infections when she was younger. She had ear infections

so much that we had ear tubes put in at 18 mo old. After the tubes

were put in she still had constant ear infections and that's when I

started to lose faith in allopathic medicine. They said there were

still advantages to the tubes -- the medicine would work faster and

she could hear better. Then on one visit the doctor looked at her

adenoids and said " my, aren't those big! " One tube had pushed itself

out rather quickly, so he wanted us to insert another tube and take

out her adenoids as well.

That's when I stumbled across Dr. Weil's book " Spontaneous Healing "

and found that he recommended Cranial Osteopathy for ear infections.

I find a local doctor training in CO through the Cranial Academy

http://www.cranialacademy.org/ and started taking my daughter. She

eventually ended my daughter's ear infections, the other tube fell

out on its own and she never had to have another surgery.

I think Cranial Osteopathy (performed by D.O. doctors and therefore

usually covered by insurance - a big plus) helped because it adjusted

her cranial respiration system to allow more air to flow in and out

of her ear -- just like the ear tubes do also.

I hope my story helps somebody.

D.

Hi Argie,

Actually, in our case, it took several months. But I think that was

partly because the doctor we were going to was fairly new at it. In

fact, she was a pediatric MD who had been in a car accident and when

her doctor said she had a choice of traction or osteopathic therapy --

she chose the therapy. And when she experienced the wonderful

results of that therapy, she went back to school and learned

osteopathy and then cranial osteopathy as well. It is very unusual

for an MD to be trained in osteopathy, it is usually D.O.s. But we

found her through the Cranial Academy and she was the only one

available near where we lived at the time, about an hour away in

Tulsa, Oklahoma.

My daughter was a tough case for her too. I think it was because she

was a 9 pound 15.4 ounce baby that was born vaginally and I squished

her. ;-) I seriously think it squished some of the cranial bones.

In fact, at one point, I think some of the cranial osteopathy

sessions were causing ear infections so I got real discouraged! But,

in desperation, I went back one more time and she said well I went to

a seminar this last weekend and learned some new things and then, as

she was touching my daughter's head, she said " Oh, I never felt that

before! " and from that day on she never had another ear infection and

we did not have to do anymore cranial osteopathy.

Sorry, that was such a long answer, but her ear infections did clear

up before the second tube fell out so we prevented more surgeries.

No, she did not have sinus problems as well although we did cut back

on the cheese intake to help with all congestion. Our doctor that

performed the cranial osteopathy also had patients that came to her

to clear up their sinuses too with this therapy, but I never did have

to use her for that. But, I heard an adult patient commenting one

time on how it had immediately cleared up her sinuses. I think it

just helps to open up the pathways to get things flowing.

Cranial Osteopathy is very non-invasive and watching it being done is

like watching paint dry -- very boring and you cannot tell anything

is being done. It is tiny movements with very light pressure, no

cracking or popping like with some chiropractic work. No meds,

although D.O.s can prescribe meds like any other doctor and might

perhaps prescribe antibiotics until things clear up.

Here is a link to Dr. Weil's website with his articles that say

something about cranial osteopathy http://search.drweil.com/search?

site=my_collection & client=my_collection & proxystylesheet=my_collection &

output=xml_no_dtd & q=cranial+osteopathy.

This page on the Cranial Academy website has a good section on

Treatment and How Long Does it Take to See Results?

http://cranialacademy.org/dxandtx.html

Hope that helps.
