Guest guest
Well Hi all, My turn to air my problems. Having been banded in March last year and having had 5 fills my question was, why am I not losing weight?? So in frustration I penned a letter to my Doctors and shot it off. Of course the response was come in for a review so I got the lovely receptionist to squeeze me in and went in. Tony B. was great and sent me for a barium sip straight away because he agreed that at 10mls (in a 9.5ml band) there was something not right. Well the sip showed I was well restricted but because of the restriction and the way I eat I had managed to stretch my pouch. The Xray Doctor called it 'generous', wasn't he kind!! So the moral is 1ml of fill out and liquids for 1 week, mushies for 3 days and then back to solids and another review in 2 weeks to see if my pouch has gone back thru the band/shrunk. I could cry! I knew something wasn't right but I wanted it to be somebody else's fault not mine! I have a terrible habit of 'testing' my band and it appears it has got me into trouble. I am trying to stay positive and praying that I haven't buggered myself up by having stretched my stomach beyond help which I am pretty sure is not the case. This band is fickle!! I must say last year was one of the most stressful in my life and the fact that I lost 15kgs and kept it off is a first for me so of that I can be proud but it is time to get back on track and try to recover from this minor setback. Has anyone else had a similar experience, overfilled and didn't know it? Thanks for listening/reading Sharon PS Thank God wine is liquid! Guest guest
Oh Sharon, glad to hear you did something about it and there is the potential to have it fix itself. Overfilling does cause plenty of problems, I would like to have a bit more fill in my band, but I am scared of causing problems so I am doing what I can with this amount. Sometimes its got to be a case of less fill and eating better - easier said than done I know but I am on my second band and I intend to keep this one for as long as possible! I can eat more than I have been able to in a long while, I am hungry when I get up in the morning but I cant eat. I get frustrated that I am not losing weight however I am not gaining. My attempts at exercise have resulted in damaged knees, so I feel like I have failed big time. Let us know how you get on, try not to gain too much with your fill out tho.
