Guest guest
Well , I must confess, this is my FAVORITE time of the year.....the cooler weather here (St. Louis, MO) feels better for me personally than the suffocating heat of summer. I try to ignore the commercialism of Christmas and remember the " REAL reason for the Season " as they say. I am a Catholic and those are my beliefs, not to be pushed on anyone else of course, but it helps me get thru the 'commercialism' I do love the lights and decorations of the holidays, they make me smile.....everyone scurrying around, prettying up their homes. I KNOW they aren't doing it for the same reason I'd like to think they are, but hey, I can THINK anything I want to, right? LOL Sometimes, when I can't take anymore Santa and Rudolph, I just listen to music that perks me up, makes me want to dance (even if I can't!) or Watch a good old comedy, all completely un-Holiday related. I also don't concern myself with buying the " perfect gifts " anymore. Except for my hubby and kids, gift exchanges are almost nill on my side of the family. We still exchange on hubbys' side, but I don't stress about it. Most of the time, I give something I've made - embroidered towels, throw pillows, homemade cookies, etc. It eliminates the need for a lot of shopping (which can be not only exhausting for us, but nary impossible and a huge sensory overload!) AND is usually more appreciated by the recipient. I don't know if any of this touched on your question, but these are things that help me keep the commercialism in check. Take good care now, STL Jane
