Guest guest Posted September 13, 2002 Report Share Posted September 13, 2002 I have had that dizzy feeling. I have never heard of Meniere's disease though. They just tell me I have vertigo. I went to the hospital with it and they gave me Meclizine, when that did not work they gave me valium. It comes back every now and then when I really don't need it. You know like you said when you have big plans it starts up. The last time it started I was lucky it only lasted a week. It is a different type of dizziness then most would imagine. I think it is the worst feeling I have ever had. Like you said you can't move an inch. When you do it feels like you moved a million miles. I explained it to my husband as, it feels like my brain is wobbling inside my head and when it stops then I can open my eyes. It is like your brain just can't figure out where you are and it wobbles in your head. The nausea is no fun either. I feel for you and hope you get better soon. I do get vertigo and nausea and the tinnitus all at the same time. So far, I haven't been hit as bad as you seem to be. The spine problems are enough, I really don't need more problems. I'm on a medicine that is a sodium depleter (Aldactone) so I actually have to take some salt every day (usually in food) or else it can cause other problems. The combined form is also called cochlear-vestibular hydrops. The simple form which only affects balance is also called vestibular hydrops. If you have tinnitus, you probably have the combined form. You will need to have your hearing tested regularly. Combined Meniere's causes hearing loss. The relationship of Meniere's to migraine is that both involve fluid pressure in the head. I have severe pain from my Meniere's, like ice picks through my eardrums & into my brain. Fortunately that never lasts nearly as long as a migraine. When things spiral completely out of control, the only thing that helps is a scopolamine patch behind the ear.
