Hey - thanks for that.

Everyones replies have been very informative - thanks!

Can I indulge with a few more questions? When people say they cannot tolerate meat in the first 12 months etc- is that ALL meat? Or is there some exceptions - ie can tolerate fish, or chicken etc? I am soooo not a vegetarian :P

I get my band refilled on friday at lunchtime and then straight up the road to Newcastle for the game that night and then back to Sydney - bit nervous about how it will go - so cause of the timing - think I will play very safe at the game and take something! Yoghurt or something.

Have recovered now and went back to work today ........ I did miss my "nanna nap" - even though I am too young for one - I got used to them!

Hiya Until you start to get fill, you wont perhaps have too many problems with what you eat. So you will find that you can eat most things for now. As for footy food, I have no idea I would perhaps live on crisps if I had to. You will eat so little, that a packet of chips is sometimes the best and easiest thing if you dont bring your own food. I had to do that on Saturday night - everyone was having the 3am pizza in Surry Hills and I had to be "oh no, I really am just craving these crisps"... sigh. Good luck with solids, hope you are still resting up and let us know how you go :)

What about taking a thermos of hot water and some cup of soups. My dr usually suggests fluidy type things for 12 hours after a fill.

Hey I have never been vego... I have always had difficulty with mince meat - so spag bol, rissoles, sausages - impossible, or rather I have had difficulty and so just dont go there. I find things like steak okay, so long as it is rare and I have time to sit and enjoy it. Fish I eat plenty of - live on it! Tin tuna, salmon, fresh fish simply done in the pan... its perhaps a toss up between fish and nachos as my "safe" dish when out and about. Definitely go with something 'safe' for your post fill diet. My surgeon recommends 24 hours fluids, 24 hours mush post fill - but of course let your surgeon (and the fickle beast of a band) guide you. Perhaps a musashi protein drink in a carton is another option? Sipped on slowly it is going to give you some energy and you are sure to get that through. Darls, dont worry about the nanna naps... I still miss mine and I am 6 years post op.

These bands are funny!

I can eat any red meat except one thing that will always gets stuck. Nachos. Good example of everyone being different.

Nachos are such an uninteresting option - you are perhaps lucky in that respect Alan! You cant help but go for something interesting then >> These bands are funny!> I can eat any red meat except one thing that will always gets stuck. Nachos. Good example of everyone being different.> Alan>

Chicken: depends on what mood my band is in!! The more tender the better. I always try to slow cook any meat.

But if i go out then curries and stews are great but even chinese is usually ok. I can even eat KFC chicken fillet burger (well half of it) if my band is in the right mood.

But some days, just a slip of concentration and it's totrure!

I'm starting to get a feel for what my band will tolerate on certain days.

I'm afraid it is a bit fo trial and error Jen.

Chicken is okay, so long as its the thigh or brown meat... havent had breast meat apart from it being shredded into chicken soup. I also cant eat reheated chicken, so if I have left over chicken, I usually let it come to room temp and eat it like that. Most of my food is room temp anyway I am just so slow at eating! >> ditton on the nachos - blech!!! :o)> > How do people go on chicken? > >
