Guest guest
I get the big barrel of oatmeal. Check the sugar out on that other stuff, it may be too much. Not really sure, because I don't buy it:) LB fl > Good Morning! > > Just wondering what brand of oatmeal you guys buy. Guest guest
Thanks for the reply! I have the box right here. The total carbohydrate is 19g, dietary fiber is 3g, soluble fiber is 1g, and sugars are 0g. Pretty good, no? > > Good Morning! > > > > Just wondering what brand of oatmeal you guys buy. Guest guest
Hey, girlfriend, let me answer this one. LOL Throw out the pre-measured packets of oatmeal. Full of sugar. Sugar is da devil. LOL I get the generic version of oatmeal. We've used both the quick cook and the 5 minute cook types. I prefer the quick cook. Scoop out 1/2 cup for me, 2/3 cup for DH, add water, and microwave. Pack your recommended amount in a ziplock bag for work. MP PS: glad you made it here! > Good Morning! > > Just wondering what brand of oatmeal you guys buy. Guest guest
If it's presweetened and it's got 0 sugar, it's got sugar hidden somewhere. I would toss that out and get the barrel stuff:) LB fl > > > Good Morning! > > > > > > Just wondering what brand of oatmeal you guys buy. Guest guest
LBfl(is that your name?)....I never said it was presweetened. The package reads Oatmeal, Regular Flavor. There is no sugar in the ingredients. I only have one packet left, so I think I will investigate the bucket/barrel of oatmeal choices today. > > > > Good Morning! > > > > > > > > Just wondering what brand of oatmeal you guys buy. Guest guest
Sounds like you have the regular oatmeal, but in a convenient pouch. The barrel would be cheaper per serving and you could keep a measuring cup in it. Andyman > > > Good Morning! > > > > > > Just wondering what brand of oatmeal you guys buy. Guest guest
Hi ! I went on a Oatmeal-buying field trip today at lunch. Here's what I found out. There are two kind of oatmeal that come in the barrels, as opposed to the pre-measured packets. There are 'quick' oats and there are 'old-fashioned' oats. They both had the same ingredient, 100% Natural Whole Grain Quality Rolled Oats. Period. End of story. How's that for a 'Whole Food'? Anyhoo, I bought the smallest size available, 18 oz, which is 13 servings. I'll try it for the first time tomorrow morning....wish me luck! Miss LeDix > What brand is your silo of oats ? Guest guest
Here's my 2 pennies on this subject. I buy the " barrel " of whole grain oats rather than the packets. First of all, you CAN buy plain unsweetened oatmeal in the packets, just like you can buy the " quick- cook " version in the barrel too. Neither one of these versions contains any added or hidden sugars (as long as you have purchased the plain version) they just grind the oats up into tinier bits so they cook faster. I prefer the whole grain oats, because they have a less " mushy " texture to them - less like babyfood in other words. I cook this in the microwave just like quick-cook oats, it just takes a little longer. Half cup of dry oats, 3/4 c. water, cook for 2-3 min. on high, add a little cold water afterward to cool it down enough to eat right away (hence the reason for only putting 3/4 c. water in while cooking). I keep a microwave-safe bowl at work and pack my 1/2 cup portions of oatmeal in plastic baggies (like MP suggested). The whole-grain version is also lower-glycemic, another reason I prefer it.
