Guest guest
How one person reacts to Armour is no prediction of how another person will react. Some folks can go from a full dose of $ynthroid to a full dose of Armour cold turkey over night with no ill effect. Others need to start very low and work up slowly. What you may need is highly individual. Judy P wrote: Right, I see that now. I thought it said 1/4 and 1/4, but I see the 3/4 and 1/4. So you are taking the whole 2 grains per day. That's good to know. Let me know if you get the jitters or anything else like that. You can be my guinea pig, since you'll be a few days ahead... Guest guest
Isn't that the truth.... I mean, it takes me months to work up to a 15 mg. addition to my usual dose. However, I seem to be the most reactive one on this message board. Courtenay. --- Jan wrote: > > Others need to start very low and work up slowly. > What you may need is highly individual. Guest guest
What are you going to do about a doc now that Dr. Sarlis is gone?Lynn wrote: When I switched Dr's he wanted me to switch to to synthetics. I told him I would try it, BUT if I didn't like it I would go back. I have a much better time getting the correct dose of T3/T4. My problem is converting from t4 to t3. There was trial and error, but I am finally there. (for now)Lynn How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates. Guest guest
I had been on 300 mcg of $ynthroid. I cut it in half and started adding Armour in 30 mg increments every few days until I got to my initial target dose of 180 mg of Armour plus 75 mcg of $ynthroid four weeks later. I never did get completely off of the T4 med. I am currently on 300 mg of Armour and .0375 mg of Lannett levothyroxine. I still get multiples of the 60 mg pills and sometimes some 30s to avoid splitting pills. Increasing by 30 mg a week is probably OK, but I would stop at 90 or 120 mg total, stay on dose for 6-10 weeks and get retested. Why 90 or 120 mg? 60 mg Armour is said to be equivalent to between 74 and 100 mcg of T4. 150 mcg of $ynthroid divided by 74 = ~2 grains or 120 mg. 150 mcg divided by 100 = ~1.5 grains or 90 mg. Judy P wrote: Yes, me too, I'll find out when I get there in a couple of weeks. I wasn't talking to the doctor or the NP, so I didn't go any further with my explanation. She did say that his wife takes Armour, so you're probably right. I was taking 100mg levothyroxine and she had me increased that last time to 150mg, so I've been taking a pill and 1/2 since then. I think she just didn't do the conversion and thought that would be 150mg Armour as well. I'll be sure to find out on the 3rd and let y'all know. I'm comfortable with starting at the 60mg and going up from there. I can easily take 1.5 or 2 of them if I need it. I'm thinking of starting at the 60mg and then increasing each week. I know it's individual, but in your opinion, does that sound ok, or would you give each dose more time before increasing?
