Hi Janell!

I do have a services coordinator for Eli. At first it just seemed like we had

one meeting after another and didn't really get anywhere, but finally she has

lined up a direct care worker for us. It took about 9 months, and then the

first worker they sent did not work out, so it was another month before we got a

new one. However, this one seems to be working out ok so far. (but it has only

been a couple weeks.) She comes to the house and works with Eli on motor skills

activities, learning activities, and social issues (dealing with anxiety and

tantrums, etc.) and she is supposed to be working with him on potty training

too, although we have not really gotten anywhere with that as of yet. We are

allowed up to 22 hours per week and I set the schedule for when I want her to

come. She can also stay with him if I need to run errands or work on household

projects. I had really hoped we could have had this started during the summer,

when he was home all day and we could really have used the help...but we will

take what we can get! The coordinator has also been helpful in pointing us in

the right direction to get information about various services. They do not set

them up, but at least I have info about what might be available and who to call!

I guess the bottom line is that for us, it was a struggle to get started, but I

think it has been worth it.

> Hello everyone! I have just a quick question for you. Does everyone have a

Cordinator? I have one for and at times it feels like an annoyance. She

is nice and all but Its just one more appointment in a long list of appointments

as many of you can relate. So anyway I'm thinking about just having her close

the case. Does anyone have any experience, thoughts, or advice wether or not I

should do this. Thanks! Hope everyone is doing well! Janell
