Guest guest
Thursday I went for my pre-op visit and Doc said we need to hold off on the surgery until my hand heals. It was one thing when he thought it was my thumb was broken, but when he realized it was actually more like my wrist, he said it is too dangerous. He said I need two good hands to catch myself if I was to fall or anything with, or to pull myself up with. I had asked at the office and had been told it was okay. Of course when I say I have a broken thumb people do not realize that it is not the end of my thumb, it is actually at my wrist, though technically it is a broken thumb. Painful as all get out, but a thumb. So Doc said he knew I was disappointed as I had waited so long for this surgery, but as soon as my my ortho surgeon said I was healed completely that I could call his office and he would do the surgery. He said I would come before or between anyone. He said he would do it if he had to operate at eight o'clock at night. So I thought that was really nice of him. It was a really long wait in his office thursday. Two hours, which he apologized for, then less than ten minutes to say that it was a no go. Oh well, it is all paid for and all the tests are in. Probably now I will wait till right after the first of the year. Or at least after Christmas. Get Thanksgiving and Christmas over with.By then my hand should be healed. Hopefully. I am saddened to a degree, but I have to admit that he is right. I just was soooo ready. I wanted it done, and I had been told that the hand made no difference, so I was going to let my brother help me. I had taken my recliner to his house. In fact we had basically moved in. So we spent a couple of nights there with him and his wife. She had had carpal tunnel surgery last monday and we had planned on recovering together. I am so lucky to have a fantastic brother and his wife and I get along great. We enjoyed 3 days of games and such, so it took the sting of being rejected for surgery out. He knew how much I was looking forward to having the panni removed especially. While I was in the office, it was crowded for a long time, then it got down to about six or seven of Dr. K patients. We had FUN. They were mostly revisionist, and proud of it. One black lady from the bay area had lost over 300 pounds. She had just had her arms done. She has not had her tummy done. And she doesn't really need it. She said she heard it hurts, so she wasn't going to. She was sooo much fun. One lady from the coast had just had a tummy tuck eight weeks ago and was there for her two year check up. She sure looked good. Sure hope mine looks so good. We just all had so much fun. I laughed so hard at one woman telling about she used to be married to a minister, and when her son was 12 they had gone out to dinner and when the waitress came to take their drink orders he ordered a PENIS COLADA. She said he is 30 and still hasn't lived that one down. So all in all, though I didn't get my surgery, I guess the man above just gave me some moments to remember with some wonderful women and time to heal and get ready for it. I am disappointed, but I am okay. I was just so ready. I hope I am as at peace the next time. Pearl
Guest guest
Pearl, Sorry for that, I know you are disappointed. It is the best thing for you, however. How fortunate that Dr.K is looking out for your best interests! Marta
Guest guest
That was how I felt when she told me about him ordering it. It just made the wait worthwhile. The ladies were just all so much fun. We had a laugh about names, because two of them call their cars Pearl. What are the odds of that. Pearl is such an old fashioned name.In fact one had just named hers on the way to the docs office that day. She had no idea she would meet a live Pearl. We had a laugh about that. It just all made the fact I had to cancel my plans for the surgery easier to take. I have always said that there is a higher power that makes plans for me. Sometimes I may not know the reasons, but sometimes they become apparent. Well some of his reasons are becoming apparent. My daughter today has came down with a terrible cold. Her poor nose is soooo red. She feels so miserable. So I was meant to take care of her. Not take a chance of being sick with that myself either. My time will come. If not, then it wasn't meant to be. It is not like it is something I couldn't live with. Just something I would prefer to not live with. How have you been lately Bobbe? Guest guest
Pearl - You had the tears rolling down my cheeks with the young man's drink order!!! But I am so sorry you have to wait longer for your surgery. You know what they say: everything happens for a reason. Besides now you'll be in good shape for the holidays, and do your recovery during the rainy winter weeks when you don't want to go outside anyway. And yes, you are truly blessed with a brother and s-i-l who love you. Now you can still recover your forearms together! Bobbe in Paso Robles. 10-19 yrs old=152. Guest guest
I have never named a vehicle. Never thought of doing it. I know people who do, and never thought it was freaky or anything, just not something I thought of doing. I guess I wasn't on that kind of terms with them. It was funny though and we really got a laugh out of it. We were talking about names and where we were from and one was talking about her name being Diane and when they called it she asked which one, as there was always at least two, and there was, but the other one was busy filling out paper work and didn't hear her name called. I said the one thing I could bet on was that there was no one else there with my name. So she asked what it was. When I said Pearl, she started laughing, that was Diane, she said that was the name of her car. Then the black gal starting laughing and said that that was the name of her car also. That she had named it on the way down that morning. They named it because of the color. I said that my maiden name was Pearl Gray, then they really laughed because they had named because of a color and here my name had been a color. It was just a lot of fun. After all the othe patients cleared out, and just Dr. K patients were left we had a rocking good time. One was a brand new patient. She is going to have surgery, I believe on Tuesday. She is a young girl, and she said she weighed like 450. She is going to be so beautiful in a couple of years. She is young enough to really come down nicely. She had a good attitude and she said she felt better after seeing me and the Diane from the coast. That Diane had just had a tummy tuck and was two years out and my god she looked good. She had been my size before and I could only hope to come out so good afterwards. She now wants more boobs. I would like to give her some, but unfortunately it doesn't work that way. There were several that had had tummy tucks and it made me feel better about it all. Though I was calm about it. I was ready. I know that the higher power had a reason for this. He always does. Thank you for coming by. I didn't come home for a couple of days and didn't have access to a computer, so I couldn't tell anyone. Except my immediate family. I called them as soon as I left the docs office. They had scheduled time off work and all, but it wasn't something I could help. Guest guest
Pearl Well, that explains why You weren't in the hospital on Saturday recuperating when I was trying to visit you! I did get to visit with Carmen and some other patients, so it wasn't a waisted trip. I know you had to be disappointed...but I love the way Dr. K puts your best interest first...and you have a great attitude about the delay. What are the odds of that. =================================== Pearl that is almost freaky. Almost like a sign, not to worry, that your destiny is being guided. How many other freaks name their cars? My motorhome is called Dottie My jeep is Libby My jag is Kitty. All very sweet girls that are good to me. Hugs Jo...a freak
Guest guest
Pearl - Yes, your name is unusual. BUT it is also the name of my dearest friend, 88- year- old Pearlie Mae!! I've been eating my little heart out and am up 20 lbs from my lowest weight. Doc says that's okey, due to my age. He also claims to have gained 20 lbs himself in the past 2 yrs. I'm going thru clothes, choosing a wardrobe for my Dec. trip back to CT to visit family for 2 weeks. You'd think it was 2 months... but I get out all the possible combinations, then mix'n'match and eliminate and get down to basics. Good thing Southwest allows 3 suitcases!
