Guest guest
Being a geneaologist also, I found it very interesting. You never know what we are going to find. My friends and relatives do not understand my beyond interest in geneaology. They remind me that I am not going to find any rich relatives. I tell them that that is not what I am after. To find out about their lives is all I care about. To find out how they survived is something that keeps me going on and on. Like the little energizer bunny about geneaology. I have sooooo much about my family, my girls dads side, heck I will even do friends family if they ask and give me a few hints. I have so many old old photos. So many I don't know the names of yet, but I am working on them. Thanks for sharing your find. I would not have known they were there. Yet I remember the one from Bonanza. Can't help you about what to do in Delano. I live in Fresno. Want to stop by my house on the way to Delano and I will share my geneaolgy stuff with you. Just let me know, anytime. Guest guest
Hey, Jim, that is very cool! But was Dirk actually on The Virginian? I read about him online, just a few seconds. He was discovered by Loretta Young in a church pew, they say. Interesting. Marta

LOL Thanks for sharing that Jo, Jim ________________ Jim I keep meaning to look up My Great Grandmothers family line. She was from Mississippi and her maiden name is Grisham. That is where Grisham(The writer/lawyer) is from. My Grandmother always said that she though he was a cousin of hers(distant) But it would be cool to know. The cover of A time to kill has a pic of him and he looks just like my uncle. (My grandmothers boy) I just don't have the energy or stamina to do the whole search thing. Guest guest
Yes, he was on the Virginia, too. He was on/in several western TV shoes from our childhood and several movies as well. I am still astounded that twin brothers from DELANO would end up being discovered and become famous in TV / Movies. Why can't these things happen to ME??? I guess it's because I'm not nearly as good looking as the Rambo brothers. Dang it all to heck! Guest guest
Jim Orman and Norman are buried in Delano because they grew up in Earlimart and their family is still there. They were really good friends with my second cousins (girls) and they would hang out at my Aunt and Uncles house daily. They would also hang out at my parents house as Dad was the girls cousin. I was a baby during that time...Years later, I do remember meeting Dack when I was about 13 when we were visiting my Aunt. We pulled up at the house and wondered who was driving the Porsche. My parents had a great time reminiscing with " Norman " . The story of Loretta Young discovering the boys is true and they actually lived with her until they were working enough to make it on their own. It was said that Dirk was the better actor and in the beginning Dirk would get the Parts and Dack would work as the stand- in. Guest guest
Jim Earlimart is the next town North (approx. 5 miles) of Delano and it makes Delano look like a big city! Earlimart doesn't have a High School and the kids are bussed to Delano High. Hugs Jo

Guest guest
Can anyone tell me if Dr. K attends any of the support meetings? I would love to meet him and hear him speak - does he do presentations on a regular basis or just occasionally? Thanks, Lynn Seattle Re: Completely off topic > Jim > > Earlimart is the next town North (approx. 5 miles) of Delano and it > makes Delano look like a big city! Guest guest
> Can anyone tell me if Dr. K attends any of the support meetings? =================== Lynn At the Delano Support meeting held the 2nd Tuesday of each month it is the " norm " for Dr. K to speak and give a presentation. He is also " usually " available after the meetings for a period of time. Sometimes after the meeting he will give a " newbie's " presentation on the DS...sometimes he will just hang and answer questions that people approach him and individually ask. Having said that...of course there are times he isn't at the support meetings (or had to split early). Various reasons, he may be " on call " and an emergency came up. He may be ill. He may be on vacation....just, various " life of a doctor reasons and just LIFE reasons " . If you were to come, I'd call and ask if there was any " scheduled " reason that Dr. K wouldn't be at the meeting. You could also call and ask when or if Dr. K is Scheduled to attend one of the Northern CA meetings if it would be closer/easier for you to go.
