So, what usually happens at these meetings? Dare I ask? Is it basically just a gab-fest (not that I have any objections to pure gab-fests ) or do people actually talk about serious thyroid stuff? I used to go to meetings prepared to speak about some serious thyroid topic. I could barely get a word in edgewise. Everyone just wanted to share and vent about bad docs among other things. You can always start with introductions. One tip about Cafe Express. Since you are going at lunch time, it would be a good idea to reserve a table ahead of time. Introductions -- excellent idea, thank you. As far as Cafe Express goes, is it the type of restaurant that takes reservations? Or is it strictly first-come first-served? Anybody know? If it's possible to make a reservation, I suppose I'd better get a "head count". So who (besides me) is going to be there tomorrow? Good! Looking forward to meeting you there. I think that makes 8 so far. As I was telling Amy in an email I sent to her, even if Cafe Express doesn't let people make reservations, I don't think there will be a problem in pushing two or three regular size tables (with 4 chairs each) together. Hey gang,I spoke to at the Cafe Express in Meyerland Plaza just a few minutes ago. Normally it is first-come/first-served but she told me I could reserve a table (or group of tables) depending on how big the party is. I've gotten "confirmed" responses of 8, including my husband and me: Ruth and her husbandAmy O'Donnell and friendLynn (lbonacci) Tasnier (sp?)Those are the only people who have replied so far; so I told her we'd be there at noon, and that there would be 8 (eight) of us. My husband (Robin) and I will be leaving at 11:00 this morning; so if there are any last-minute RSVP's, please let me know before then so I can call Cafe Express back and adjust the total. We have had about 6 meetings over the last several years. What I found

to work the best was to know for sure that at least one other person is

coming. This person has my phone number, so if she can't show up, she

calls me. Then I wait in the lobby with the thyroid group sign and if

no one else shows up, I can just leave rather than eat alone.

more to talk about than the time available to talk; but that's why I

want to have the meetings on a monthly basis. But that may change after

tomorrow's meeting. We may decide we only want to meet quarterly, I

don't know. I haven't met anyone from this group, nor do I know

whether anyone already knows anybody else from the group personally

(other than online contact). I like to be able to match faces (and

bodies) with names (or usernames), which is why I asked that question a

few weeks ago about when was the last time Houston-area members got

together.

Yes, Chelle, that's right, Darcia. She was the first friend I made here in Houston, and I kid you not, she's kept me out of trouble a few times. She's also watched my Kittenz once or twice. . .

I vote for Meyerland, but if y'all want to go somewhere else, that's fine. Darcia and I walked around in Target and a few other places after y'all left, and then I went fabric shopping. Oh, the damage I did. . . .

Wait--didn't they tear down Town & Country mall recently? Or am I thinking of someplace else?
