Welcome Home Jan

I'm Ba-ack!

I just got back from Lubbock. Had a nice dinner with , Helen, and Sharon and great visit with Dr. R.

He is keeping me on the same doses of sex and adrenal hormones. I am staying on my same doses of thyroid meds. But he cautions me that as I lose weight, I may need to reduce the amounts. So we will retest in six months more or less.

My ferritin is now up in the 60s. He would like me to get it to midrange: 115. Somebody, sharpen the steak knives!

recommended a great place to eat right around the corner form the doc's office: Bless Your Heart. I had broiled chicken breast, grilled veggies, and some fruit.

I have 262 emails in my inbox. I will get to them as soon as I can. . . . .

I feel pretty good, but right now I am too tired to oink!

Jan, it was so nice to meet you! Was your drive back uneventful? I hope you get some good sleep tonight! I'm still tired, too.

Sneak preview the all-new Yahoo.com. It's not radically different. Just radically better.

I still am extremely overweight. I have a long way to go. But what I am doing is not a diet. It is a permanent change in my way of eating. I am also getting more sleep: at least 5.5 to 6 hours. I would also have to state that the weight loss did not start to happen until I got my Armour up to 270, 285, and then 300 mg. And I could not tolerate those doses of Armour until I raised my sex hormones by 50%. I started on March 1. sle816@... wrote: 34lbs!!!! Congratulations! Jan,

What sex hormones do you take and what amounts of each? We are having a really hard time getting everything in order with my hormones. How long did it take for alot of symptoms to go away somewhat??? this is getting to be so fustrating.

Hey Jan, Welcome Back! And your email on the iron part is of great importance for me, as everyone is always saying that the 70 I always have is a good number. I believe that your lab is using the same ranges and test for this as mine, so I'm thinking that my 70 has been too low all along for me, and that this could be one of the keys to my problems with chronic fatigue, energy, etc.....I know no two people are alike, but being as it's probably the same lab ranges (as far as I can tell) as HealthCheck, I think I'd better start working on this. If Dr. R says that midrange is better, then that's what I'm also going to do. I've never had to take iron in my life, but then I've never been between the ages of 50 to 55 either, and I'm thinking that this may be one of the keys. We'll see, that may change. I know that that indiscriminate taking of iron, when it's not needed, isn't safe either, but there's got to be something to that 115, and I NEVER run over a 70. All this time, I've thought that that was the magic #, everywhere I've read. Evidently not. That may be why I constantly crave red meat all the time, at least a couple of times a day, but I don't always answer that call, not everyday. Even though my hemoglobin was good this last time (February), I may be waning and waxing there, inbetween testing. After all, my testing is now only about every 6 months, if that, most of the time. I'm analyzing in writing here, because it may be important for many. I don't want to thicken up my blood too much, because of my age, but I'm thinking it is something to look at here, for myself. The only anemia that has ever showed in my blood is the Folic Acid one, but who knows what's going on in between testing, at times. I have a week or two of feeling great, then this changes for a week or so. Could be when I'm more careless with my diet, I don't know.
