Guest guest
Hope it helps. When I get home I will look for the link with the information about cleaning pillows, dust, allergies... --- mylilsuzyqs wrote: > Our pillows are in the dryer right now. Guest guest
Oh yuck, yuck, yuck... I can't find the link about putting the pillows in a hot dryer, but all links talk about washing them and replacing them often. Read this - you may need a strong stomach.. http://allergies.about.com/od/molds/a/blpillows101405.htm There are lots of disgusting facts about what lives in our pillows. I have decided that I will take a " dust mite pillow cover " to put on my pillow at any hotel I stay in, plus of course, at home. Happy sleeping. --- Ruth wrote: > Hope it helps. Guest guest
I got one from an online allergy store. It is Satin Soft Supreme Zippered Pillow Encasing. You are supposed to wash the encasing every 10-14 days in hot water and dray at lowest setting. You do not bleach or iron nor dry clean. I do not remember the cost. I got it from Nantional Allergy. It is good for dust and dust mite allergies. I do not know about mold. --- carol77096 wrote: > > I'll take your word for it (about it being gross!), > she said, while > stuffing the pillows in the washer. > > If you find a pillow cover that's not crunchy and > stiff let us know. > > Carol > > > > > > > > > > > > > Waking up with a headache can be a sign of > > > > allergies > > > > > (dust, mold) -- both live in pillows. Guest guest
A word about those dust mite pillow covers - I am sure they work well but the material does not breathe and you head and neck gets really hot laying on it.Ruth wrote: Oh yuck, yuck, yuck... Guest guest
Thanks for this link (there were a lot like this, but this one is the best). But I KNOW I found something about using the dryer once a week... it dries out the " sweat and drool " so that mold does not thrive, and dust mites LOVE fungus... many coughs come from mold in pillows. I use dust covers on all my pillows now too. And about taking them to a hotel... I can't pack a pillow in my suitcase, so... I would just wash in HOT water as soon as I got home. --- " K.
