Hi All,

Been lurking for, well, a few years.

Anyway, have results of a SPECT scan and shows underdevelopment in the most

forward part of both temporal lobes. My child is Aspie/HFA, 8yrs. old, no

meds. Expressive/Respective language is biggest issue, followed by TOM and

then balance.

Was wondering if anyone as experience with therapies that have shown

improvement, who have also done SPECT scans.

We have done speech therapy for 6yrs., OT for 4yr., some gymnastics, some

mood Bell, some biofeedback, most Locutour, most Sentence Master.

(wanted to mention too, am big advocate of nutritional supplements - efa's

Can now afford to do something like The Listening Program or Fast Forward,

HBOT and not sure if I should be looking at something altogether different.

Anyone out there with SPECT scans, tried a therapy, showed improvement, then

did another SPECT scan? I know everyone's different but you have to start

weeding out somewhere.

Thank You,

damage to areas of the brain that are already over perfused - often the case

with our kids.

Have heard this but only by Dr. G, but no reference data. Any links?

Thank you,

Hello,

Just finished that presentation while you posted. Didn't see anything

regarding HBOT being not recommended for hyperperfusion children. Are

referring to slide 37 (Magill University or 3rd International Symposium on

Brain Injury & HBOT)

Not being argumentative here, just can't see it documented, meanwhile HBOT

advocates say HBOT helps both hyper and hypo and offer " before and after "

spect scans as well as documentation that no other therapy was tried.

No hidden agenda, just digging.

Thank you,

That's terrible Doris !! Keep us posted as

Yes, Carmen still does the scans.

Unfortunately, we were hit with something of a challenge, because the

camera broke down a couple of minutes into the scan! We ended up

having to drive over to Dr. Uzler's office! So we ended up

experiencing both facilities in one day...lol. Hopefully, none of you

will ever have to go through what we did!

Incidentally, Dr. Uzler and his technician were both very nice.

so

if you paid $930 last yr for a SPECT

and UCLA billed BCBS FEP $1200 for 's SPECT,

how is it that the cost has suddenly jumped to $1800 ?

Do you get a 1:1 with a BrainMatters SPECT expert?

(we never got this at UCLA).

Was just wondering that when I read about the $1800. I suspect that the

cheaper price had something to do with the UCLA Harbor facility getting some

kind of funding as this radiology lab also serves as a community facility -

I believe (I certainly saw pregnant women, people on crutches etc comeing in

for scans, x-rays etc - so maybe this is the price we pay for some

privatization - no more subsidy.

Hello everyone

I'm sort of new here - I've been watching your great posts for a long time,

and we are at last managing to get over from UK to see Dr Goldberg in a couple

of weeks time.

Dr Uszler is doing our Spect scan, and he has quoted me $1500.

Best wishes to you all,

Elspeth

Doris, We go to Dr. Uzler and both times she had to sit quietly in a dark

room for 15 minutes for the medicine to work well. ll called it her " alpha

state " of mind. She wanted to go in by herself the second time we went.

She sat in a little dark room after the injection. She did not have an IV

that I remember. We also went to a great diner type restaurant a couple of

blocks

down the street on the same side of the street, very kid friendly with a

great selection. I have to look up the name and will post.
