Guest guest
That's a great idea, Carol! Let him handle it for you. I'm sure your husband wants his wife back as much as you want to be well. With Dr. R, you don't have to stay on your toes and double-check what he's doing. He will take care of you. I have been to TONS of doctors. I have been on anti-depressants. I have heard the party line that my thyroid is fine so if I don't feel well it must be something else. I am on the road to getting better now and I am so grateful. I really want the same thing for you. If it doesn't happen for you to see Dr. R right now, give your husband the list of good doctors and let him go to work. I'm guessing that a simple change to Armour will make a huge difference in the way that you feel, even if there are other issues going on. A really great doctor will be able to switch you to Armour and check out the other issues. Best of luck to you!! Take Care, Katy Re: Very sick newbie Jan, thanks for your response. I'm at the point of not trusting any Doctors around here and NOBODY better come to my house. I've asked my husband to call Dr. R's office Thursday morning for me. Thanks again, Carol

Guest guest
I met Sara when she was still very sick. She looked like death warmed over. The next time I saw her, after having been to Lubbock, I almost did not recognize her, she looked so good. She has had some ups and downs, but she has continued to improve. I would not worry about the platelets before going to . He will know what you need to do about them. If he says you need to see a hematologist or other specialist, then you really do need to see them. It is an amazing experience to see a doc who really knows what he is doing. You do need to communicate with him about what is going on with you. Some of the hormones or vitamins he may prescribe do not agree with some folks. It is not unusual for hypo/hashi folks to have a number of intolerance/sensitivity issues. He has strategies for dealing with those issues. carol77096 wrote: Sara,Thank you, your response was just what I needed, just when I needed it. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. Guest guest
I wish you the very best. I so relate to the sypmtoms you describe. Sounds like thyroid to me! The memory problems and brain fog really scared me. Since I was a little girl, my memory was incredible, and then suddenly I could not remember what I had eaten for breakfast. I thought I was going crazy before being diagnosed with Hashi's. I will never again doubt the power of the thyroid! It truly does effect everything else in your body. Thank goodness, I have my memory back for the most part today. As far as the platelets go, I have no idea. I hope you get that resolved very soon. My platelets are always out of normal range these days (my blood has to be tested every 3-6 months because of chemo medicine I take), and I'm told by my rheumatologist this is because I have active inflammation in my body. Who knows though! I hope your husband helps you through this time. My husband helped me a lot when I was first diagnosed with Hashi's. He went with me to the doctor and helped me give a more detailed history. My brain and memory was so messed up that I could not even remember symptoms I had experienced the day before. It helps to have someone with you, not only to help you clearly communicate with the doctor but also to listen to what the doctor tells you. So many times, patients walk out of a doctor's office and they can't remember everything that was discussed. It is very beneficial to have a trusted friend or relative accompany you. After reading so many posts about Dr. R., I'm considering him myself. I'm anxious to hear more about the doc in Katy as well, since that's not too far from me (west side of Houston). All the best, Elaine Re: Re: Very sick newbie I met Sara when she was still very sick. She looked like death warmed over. Guest guest
Thanks, Katy, This is one reason I know I'm sick. If I was 'myself' I would have already made the arrangements and my Hub wouldn't have to set it up or go with me. It's really encouraging to read about people getting better. I'm glad it's working for you. Thanks, Carol > > That's a great idea, Carol! Let him handle it for you. I'm sure your > husband wants his wife back as much as you want to be well. Guest guest
Carol, Dr. R's office will give you a little chart that has " breakfast " , " lunch " , " dinner " , and " bedtime " and write out what you need to take when. You won't walk out of there confused, I promise :-) -Katy

Guest guest
I hope your husband helps you through this time. I am getting a divorce after 35 years. I blame it on undiagnosed, unresolved hypo. This disease has cost me my marriage. Too sad. June It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells the kind of life you have lived.Helen Walton
Guest guest
June, I'm really sorry to hear that. I completely understand how it could be a factor. I also think it could happen to anybody, even without hypo. Are you getting help with your health now? Carol Re: Re: Very sick newbie I hope your husband helps you through this time. Guest guest
It is not unusual to have a marriage destroyed by hypothyroidism, but it is still sad. Guest guest
This is news to me. I was under the impression that the male sex drive quit around age 45 or so, which has been a bummer for me, being 7 years younger than him. Hmmmmm, maybe DH needs more Armour and testosterone. nw I'm 57 and my husband is 55. He is very patient about all of this but I know he would prefer me to be a bit more enthusiastic. Guest guest
Where did you get that idea. Most men are still growing strong long past that age. Re: Very sick newbie This is news to me. Guest guest
Personal experience ... I've been trying to get him to work on this for probably 6-7 years now. > I'm 57 and my husband is 55. Guest guest
There are reasons a man might lose some interest in sex. Some are physical and some emotional. Testosterone may help. A complete physical checkup is in order. Emotionally, the main reason either gender loses some interest is minor resentments of which they may be unaware. Sometimes men get tired of processing all the verbiage we women put out and withdraw. le (ugh) suggested meeting the husband at the door in the evening wearing nothing but Saran Wrap. Massage is always a good technique. M.rose_nancy8 wrote: Personal experience ... I've been trying to get him to work on this for probably 6-7 years now.> I'm 57 and my husband is 55. Guest guest
All that is of no avail if the testosterone is too low or if the thyroid levels are off. Then there is that prostate thing. . . . .Marilyn wrote: There are reasons a man might lose some interest in sex. Some are physical and some emotional. Testosterone may help.
