Guest guest
Hi Lynn, I am sorry you have no relief. How frustrating. I use to also wake up at night after dreaming I was in pain. I would have weird dreams and in those dreams I would have this excruciating headache. I would eventually awaken to find that it was no dream, I really was in excruciating pain. This went on for years until my last brain surgery. Now due to frequent taps when I was in my 20's, I have aweful back pain. It is also constand but the meds so take off that really bad edge. There are still days when I hurt really bad but usually my pain is within a dealable level. Where is your pain? > is there anyone else out there who has pain that never, and i mean never - > not ever- lets up? my pain is just constant. even when i sleep, i will dream > of it and wake many times a night in excruciating pain. no matter what meds > i take or how many (am up to 200mg of oxycontin 3x a day plus others) meds i > take-i cannot kill the pain. all the things the docs have done to try to > help-made it worse. it is always there - a deep dark ache with shooting and > stabbing pains and slicing pain and pinching and poking and i could go on and > on describing it. but my main question is - is there anyone unable to calm > the pain - even for a little while. i have tried everything and it is getting > maddening to be in pain ALL THE TIME> year after year, month after month, day > after day, hour after hour, minute after minute......... > lynne

Pain medication brings my pain level down to about a 4 on the level of 1-10. " Yes, Judy, you have described my own situation. The pain medications do not eliminate the pain, just lower my perception of it to a point that I can cope and try to function as normally as possible. I'm still on a roller coaster of pain and fatigue. I'm best within 2-4 hours after taking oxycontin, darvon, and flexeril. After six hours the pain is back and climbing rapidly. I do take darvon and flexeril inbetween oxycontin doseages also (every 12 hours) which definitely helps, but I still struggle with periods of chronic fatigue when these meds wear off. It usually takes another dose, two hours napping or resting before I can go again. I go through this roller-coaster routine about three times a day before retiring for the night. I can force myself through the fatigue attacks, but that means I pay dearly by ending up in bed for days at a time. This is especially true if I'm driving for long periods of time and cannot move as much as needed to keep my arthritic joints and muscles active. The day after a long car trip is totally lost to resting. This makes trips to family weddings and funerals very taxing. I have an extremely large extended family and live seven hours from most of the family. I now only go to weddings for my brothers' and sister's children. Guest guest
Yep. For about oh, five years now I think. My only respite was when I was waking up from surgery in December and I'd been under general anesthetic. It didn't last long but oh was it nice while it did. I'd forgotten what pain-free felt like! I usually sleep through the night thanks to the meds. a >is there anyone else out there who has pain that >never, and i mean never - not ever- lets up? __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Oh yeah. I did have this box that I could control my meds with after, I think, the last surgery. That was optimal. Of course. Now is a matter of degree, is it bad, really bad or I want to blow my head off. Di a >is there anyone else out there who has pain that >never, and i mean never - not ever- lets up? Guest guest
Hi, I have always found waking up from general anesthesia after surgery is really painful. It feels like everything is enhanced including the pain. I had to have a general when I had my son (and my daughter as well) and they had a heck of a time getting my pain under control. Mostly because I am so tolerant to narcotics anymore. > Yep. For about oh, five years now I think.
