Guest guest
Hi Welcome to this group. I live in New Zealand, so cannot help with advice as to who to see for an accurate diagnosis, but I would suggest a neurgologist or a geriatric physician or even a psychiatrist. If your mother in law does indeed have LBD, and for all of your sakes, I hope it's not, a really good book that will help you help her is below. I would thoroughly recommend it. On the cover it has this quote " A family guide to caring for persons with Alzheimer Disease, and related dementing illnesses, and memory loss in later life " . I look after my mother who was dx with LBD a year ago, and have found this book invaluable. The 36-Hour Day by L. Mace and V. Rabins published by The s Hopkins University Press ISBN 0-446-61041-0 Another good resource is the files put together for a conference of caring for the elderly. These papers can be found on the yahoo group's website. The link is below. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LBDcaregivers/files/CCC%20Papers/ Good luck in your endeavours. What do I do? My mother-in-law is having what I believe to be symptoms of LBS but, the doctors are still running tests. Meanwhile she can't even carry on a normal conversation because she is so distracted with all of her new " friends " . She's not sleeping because they get into bed with her. She's so nervous and axcious all of the time it's hard to know what's going on. She says her friends don't talk at all. They just smile. I've read that this is symptomatic of LBS. She and her husband live about an hour and a half away from us and she doesn't want us to worry. We live in Dallas, TX. Does anyone know of a specialist on LBS that I can send her to for evaluation or any other suggestions? I feel so lost, she's my best friend..... MLH.
