I have not noticed any regression in the winter months in my son (5.5 yrs )

but I will watch for changes . I do however notice a degradation of the

human race in the same season over the last 45 years. I live in South Fla.

and the lack of focus and unrelenting irritability seems to have no

relationship to the temp A family member in Seattle attributes the lower

production levels, the increase in depression and the doubling of the

regional divorce rate on the length of the days as judged by natural ambient

light.. You might consider expanding the schedule back to what is

experienced during the summer months,. These kids respond to the attitude

of the people they interact with (Teachers,Doctors,Sibs) as much as they

respond to meds or therapy.

I sure notice a diff in my son 3.8 yrs every time the season changes

he goes through a week or so of regressive behaviors mostly... I

always remind myself when the weather changes so does his

barometer. You might also be interested to know. One of my ABA

teachers works in an adult care facility for autistic adults and

says the weather changes cause severe behavior in the adults as

well. Poo smearing, yelling, biting and rocking to name a few. I

believe some people are just weather sensitive. My fingers swell

when it's going to rain, what's the difference?

Well it is interesting that you have brought this up Dave. We have seen

some major regression in the last month, mostly in the last 2 weeks.

Behaviours that I haven't seen in ages have reared their ugly little head

again...Sleep disturbances, noises, flopping, not listening, poor

compliance, poor eye contact, huge need for vestibular stimulation... I am

about at my wits end. The beauty of this parent interaction really does

constantly remind us that we are not alone.

I have made my sons diet so tight, poor baby, he is right back to the really

strict GFCF basics again with no sugar, no corn, no soy and we are not

seeing much change for the better. I would tend to think allergy, perhaps

from too much indoor presence, dust etc perhaps, but last winter my son did

so well. Nothing environmentally has changed in our home. Is it possible

that some kids just plateau? Does it pick back up again? Please someone

say it will get better again...SOON!!!!

Thanks for the post. More to think about.

Lori,

That sounds a lot what has experienced, especially the

vestibular stuff.

As I mentioned in my previous note, this year has not been near as

bad as a year ago when he came completely off the rails for about two

months.

This year it's more of an annoyance ... rather than a crisis.

To give you some comfort, 's problems ended last year about the

same time the snow melted around here. Late March, early April.

I think the indoor thing may have a lot to do with it.
