Guest guest
Hey Guys, I have a Avocado plant that I grew from a pit that is about 1 1/2 yrs old. Last winter I threw it in the garage and gave up on it sprouting and when we moved in April was surprised to find a Avocado tree in my planter...LOL. Well, I am Heading to Atlanta For a quickie band trip Friday and hear the temps are going to drop to 22 degrees or so during the day. My question for you master gardeners....Is this...Do I leave it out and let it acclimatize to the area and hopefully be able to transplant it one day to a real tree out in the yard? Or do I bring it in and pamper it and make it a house plant/ tree? I like both ideas, But wonder about killing it.Plus I read that if they live long they can get 30+ feet tall. I wonder how fast they grow? Anyone have any experience with avocados and know anything about them? It is a pretty plant with deep green leaves and I read it is part of the evergreen family. (I was wondering why the leaves didn't turn for the fall....LOL) I'm kind of attached to my little avocado tree, it's a survivor like me.
