Guest guest
Hi all, As I am running around today with more than enough to get done I realized it is my 3 yr DS anniversary today! WOO HOO….hard to believe it has been 3 years ! Not sure where the time has gone, but it sure has flown by. I can still remember thinking that first week after surgery why in the h*ll did I do this ! Now, it is like, thank the Lord I did this 3 years ago and why did I not learn about the DS sooner in my life ! It has been one heck of a ride ! I feel so blessed to have had this surgery ! I have lost 168 pounds at my lowest, I do vary by about 20 pounds depending on my eating habits. At times my eating habits could be better, but that is why I had the DS in the first place...I love food ! Have to admit I have been bad and eat chocolate daily ! Trying to cut back and I am slowly. Those old habits sort of creep back in at times. I am a stress eater and the DS has NOT changed that fact, so I try to be careful. I need to find a way to get rid of the stress in my life ! When I am full I am full and can't eat another bite ! My other addiction is red hots, you know those little cinnamon candies, oh how I love them ! Cutting back on those too and have lost a few pounds this week. I was starting to feel fat again...and can't have that ! The only post-op problem I have had is keeping my Vit D levels up, but I am working on this and it is improving SLOWLY….this is why labs are so important ….so you can watch the trends. When I look at what I can do now compared to what I could 3 years ago as a pre-op it is amazing ! My stamina is great ….I run circles around most family members and have been nicknamed the energizer bunny. They say they get tired just watching me. I have had one round of plastics, arms, face and eyes with Dr Elias Kuster in Brazil and plan on having more after my Dad is more stable. Dad has kept me pretty busy this summer, which is why I have not had much time for the board lately. But things are getting better in that department. I hope in 2007 to have another round of plastics on the lower body ! I am told I will lose another 20-30 pounds at that time. I can't wait to get rid of the extra skin on the lower half of the body ! Hope that everyone is doing well. I have to go help my Dad some more and making another road trip on Monday. So I will be gone again for a couple of weeks, but have to finish taking care of some items for him. I will try to pop in and skim the board but I have not had much time for this right now with everything going on. If you are a newbie and debating on the DS, it is life changing, do not hesitate, just do it !
