Guest guest
Dear Steve, You wrote : I am investigating the " feeling " under the assumption that it is negative, which is exactly what a psychiatrist or Doctor would do. I am assuming there is " something wrong " and therefore I am experiencing that there is " something wrong " which therefore needs to be " fixed " . However, when I do my investigation, I find that I can't really know that that is true. This thought that there is " something wrong " is just my thinking and it's purpose is the same as all my other thinking, to take me out of the Now and therefore out of my stillness and peace and self- awareness. I would just like to ask a question that is puzzling me, as I have read research that points to the body 'remembering' incidents (usually traumatic) in our life which sometimes cannot be accessed by the conscious mind; so a similar 'event' can set off a response in our 'mind' (or our body) that we have no control over. It is like a 'cell memory', but it can be any 'sensory' memory that we won't necessarily connect with the past. (A lot of work on Post-Traumatic Syndrome uncovered this finding apparently.) So my question is that is it always a good idea to control our 'negative' thoughts... if it might be the unconscious 'problems' trying to rise to consciousness - because if it doesn't manage it, research points to the possibility it might then 'somatise' it - in order to bring it to the individual's attention - what we call dis-ease ? Maybe people who have been doing " The Work " for awhile can share whether this is relevant .... or not! (As you can see - I'm having a lot of trouble getting my head around doing the Work ... but I expect someone will tell me to do the Work on my question ? :-) Warmly, Barbara ________________________________________________________________________ Want to chat instantly with your online friends?
