Nope, he is a dirty YOUNG man! lol Tell him I am not the same woman

now that I go without his touch. Sigh.

Kathy knows paint? Hmmm...

Hey, my patio is CLEAN now! Oh, and I am still studying, I just get

alot done on my breaks. Really. Also, the pool is up to 90 degrees.

Almost disgustingly warm. Good for night swimming, though.

Darn the boys and I should have stoped by for a quick swim

before heading home...

Well to be honest, what she did to her living room looks

good, kitchen, dinning part and 2 walls of the living room

is a light tan color, and her other wall is a green which

goes down the hall to the bathroom and bedrooms.I think it will

look ok once she gets her pictures and stuff on the wall,

but that will be a bit as they are coming in next week and

tear out the carpet and put the fake wood floor down in

living room and down the hall.

Now if I can only remember to tell he is a dirty

young man...He is going to flip...lol

God bless,

Yes, Pearl, my son is stationed in Okinawa as an MP. He really

likes it there. He already did his year in Iraq. He was in Germany

and his unit went to Iraq and then shortly after their year was up, he

PCS'd to Japan. I am hoping he stays there until his enlistment is

over. Then college!

Marta have you tried Costco? I buy big tubs of it at both Costco and Sams

here in Fresno. They have two different brands. I get cravings that last for

awhile and about the time I really get stockpiled they go away. Oh well....

You explained awhile ago to some newbie about why our bowels are the color

and texture they are at the beginning, which had always been a question in my

mind, but something I just accepted. I was glad to know the reason why. In

fact I had remarked to my brother once that it didn't make any difference what

I

ate, it all came out looking the same. Perhaps you can answer this question

for me, why, since our food goes basically straight through us, does it find

the time to get so rotten smelling? I notice it always has this one certain

odor, but can get worse. Is that because of the less bile thing? I am not

trying to get a stinky poop thing going again on here. just remembered you

explaining the color and texture thing and thought maybe you could explain the

mechanics of this to me. I know it is something we have to live with, and I

gladly accept it in exchange for my better health. My last A1C was a 5.1, am I

happy, you bet!!!!!! Beats a 9.7, as it was at one time.

I am still waiting and wanting my hernia repair and panni removal, but this

broken wrist didn't heal right and now I am battling early RSD with 3x wk.

therapy. I am determined to beat it. I WILL beat it. I may not have use of my

right hand now, but I will. Dr. K will do my surgery whenever I am ready, I

just need to get the use of my hand back. That is more important at the moment,

though I am so looking forward to getting the surgery.

Pearl, I think it has something to do with the undigested fats. I

notice that the lower fat my diet is, the less stinky it is.

Regarding the tubs of stuff, I forget what we were talking about. Was

it sweet pickles? lol

okay, now share the recipe for the jerky, or is it already in the recipe

file and I just haven't gone there? I don't have a recipe, I just mix till it

tastes good. My tastes change so much it seems. Also it depends on who I have

to share it with. Just me, it has so much red pepper in it it is hard to find

the meat. I love it hot, and I like putting in garlic powder sometimes. Just

really spicy. The first I ever made the recipe said to cut the meat in

strips, make really spicy boiling water and run the strips through with them

hooked on curtain rods. I had an enclosed screened back porch with a clothes

line

on it and as soon as I ran the hooks of meat through the boiling water I hung

them out to dry. It didn't take long. It was really good jerky. Everyone

would grab several hooks of it on the way into my house. They loved it!!! Begged

for more. Back then we didn't have dryers. I am talking almost fifty years

ago. Then I started drying it in the oven. My kids have always loved it.

Regardless of how I made it. Most of them like it with lots of red pepper. I

do

have a couple who are a little less able to handle the really " good " kind.

The ground meat sounds like it would be kind of like the Slim Jims you buy.

They are kind of greasy and not whole meat flavored. I haven't convinced

myself I want to try it just yet. Of course I am easily convinced to try new

stuff. If I do, I will let all of you know. I just wondered if any of you had

tried it, knew of it, or anything.

hello Pearl,

This recipe you told takes me back to my childhood years. My father made

jerky just the way u did he made a closed screen tent in the back yard,a

clothline and just placed the meat over the line.Yes this is very delicious and

irresistable grub.My father loved deer hunting so this where he got his meat or

he

would buy beef as well.Only thing is he didnt make the meat spicy it was

mixed like salt, pepper, there was a sweat taste maybe barb-Q sauce not sure but

made such a grrrrreat taste. No need of buying dehydrators nor oven dring no

fancy ways just good oh clotheline and tent.

have

to get me this Necco dryer from Walmart is this all you need to make beef

jerky is it just called dryer or is it a dehydrator? In what department of the

hello Pearl,

when you said you started drying beef jerky in the oven at what temp was it

on and for how long did you leave it in there? did you use foil to go over

the racks ,used aluminum pans or do you place them directly over the racks?

about the meat Im thinking you might of had to pound it thin with a meat hammer

right and then cut into strips? interesting

Pearl, the recipe for my jerky is in the files. I prefer peppered

jerky, but with black pepper, not red. I bet my son would love your

jerky. Whenever I make it I lose weight or maintain.

I first dried mine in an oven and only in the past couple years did I

buy a dryer. My oven was damaged by putting too large a load of

jerky in it. THe moisture went everywhere and it is a built-in, so

too bad for me.

The Necco dryers available from Walmart are great. They come with

four shelves and so this year I bought a second one for the extra

shelves. Too bad for me, it would be cheaper or order the shelves.

Last time I checked it was cheaper to buy a second machine. I paid

about $40 for it. They only have them in the winter, I think.

I rarely change my recipe. I have tried soy-based recipes, including

teriyaki, but I prefer the original. I do not like sugar in my

jerky, but like a salty, peppery, smoky flavor.

Regarding sharing, well, I am greedy. By the time I am finished

making it, I really struggle with giving it away! So much work, so

little jerky in the end.

It is a dehydrator and it is in the small appliance aisle. Better act

fast as they are seasonal. I got the last one at my local Walmart.

You have to slice the meat thin. I like thick slices so I tried the

thin-sliced steak from Costco and it worked fine, just takes a long

time to dry. I mean, almost 24 hours.

If you live where there are Mexican meats available, they have fajita

meat that is slice perfectly. I forget what it is called, at this

moment. It will come to me.

If Dr K wants to have 'calcium absorption' as his August meeting, I

can show up and be an example of what not to do! Hee. My levels are a

lot better now though and while I'm still no where close to perfect on

taking my calcium regularly, I'm doing calcium infusions every week,

so they never get as long as they did that one time. I have to get

them checked again, but I'm probably pretty close to being in the

normal range, I think..almost! :)

Does JJ ever post? It just shows how everyone's bodies are so

completely different since she never took calcium and her calcium

levels were always perfect, unlike mine...it's definitely important to

get your levels checked and do what's needed for your own body, etc.

Pat, twenty two freaking hours of travel. You would think I was coming

from another country! I am filthy and tired. I went to Memphis and my

bags went to Long Beach.

My bag was searched. I am pretty sure they found the sight of eleven

pounds of cheese curds um suspicious! They dented my good boots. Ah,

heck. Some of the curds were still frozen when I got here. The

you=know-what is on its way, also.
