Guest guest
Just joined this list. I've only recently begun to suspect I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, or something else I haven't thought of yet. I've had symptoms for years (extreme back pain, headaches, stiffness) usually starting at ovulation and getting worse and worse till my cyle started. I had major dental work a year ago and surgery last June to remove endometriosis and a cyst. I had high hopes this would alliviate my problems but they seem to have gotten much worse. I now feel like I have severe PMS all the time, severe stiffness and back pain especially in the morning. I got Percocet after the surgery and in late August began taking it every day...now i feel I have to have it just to do normal activities. My gynecologist has no answers for my increased pain and fatigue. I've contacted a Dr. Vielt in Dallas who specializes in women's issues, fibro, hormonal decline etc. She uses more sensitive tests to pick up on things that the standard hormonal tests do not. Every test I've has thus far from the doctors where I live (Chattanooga, TN) come back completely normal and it's driving me crazy because something serious has changed with my body. I've even gained 20 pounds since the surgery with no apparent reason why. I've always worked out on the treadmill every day...my eating habits have not changed. Although I'm able to get on the treadmill less and less due to pain and now instead of feeling better from aeorbic exercise I feel worse with increasing pain and fatigue. It's taking forever to get an appointment in Dallas...they say it takes 2 to 3 weeks to get a phone call for an appoitment and it's been a month. In the meantime I'm running out of percocet and cannot get anymore from my doctor. I'm feeling desperate and very depressed. I recently got on zoloft but so far nothing has changed. I feel like I need an entirely different med than the percocet anyway, as it is loaded with tylenol and is only supposed to be used for short term. Since it's obvious I've got chronic pain it looked like it would be better to be on oxycontin since it longer lasting without all the other stuff in it. But it's been dogged so much lately with the press and people who are abusing it that I'm even afraid to bring it up to a doctor here. I certainly don't intend to live my life taking pain meds but I'm wanting at least that to hold me over till I can get to a good doctor to get to the bottom of what's going on. It might just be a small tweaking of hormones I need. That doc in Dallas I mentioned wrote a book called Women screaming to be heard and I saw myself everywhere in the book. I'm just at my wits end and I'm running out of percocet and feeling panic about it. It seems like the docs just think I'm some neurotic drug seeking female and are telling me to just take these antidepressants and all will be well, even though this is my 3rd try on an antidepressant. I'm sorry I didn't go read all your archives yet, my questions might well be answered there and at least I'd read others plight and not feel so alone. I've been taking huge amounts of motrin for almost 30 years now for menstrual pain...1800mgs every 4 to 6 hours...I'm certain it's probably worn a hole in my stomach by now. Once I was prescribed Ultracet and Ultram and they did absolutely nothing. Seems the ONLY thing that gives me any relief is the opioid based meds and they've got such a stigma around them, not to mention doctors are very reluctant to even give them. I've gotten so desperate to have something while I'm in this " waiting period " to get to Dallas I'm almost ready to get in my car and go to Mexico because I heard it's not nearly as difficult to get badly needed medications there. I just don't know what to do and am exasperated! I've had all my pain symptoms for years but never all at once EVERY DAY. That's when I thought maybe this last surgical procedure I had ...just tipped my body over into full fledged constant pain/fatigue. If anyone's got similar issues or any advice on what's happening with me or any other medications that might help, I'd greatly appreciate hearing your feedback. Thanks, Candence
Guest guest
Hello, welcome! I noticed you were having a hard time finding something to help with pain. Have you tried Ultram? So far that has been the best for me. Good Luck with everything! Kendra > > I just wanted to introduce myself to this group. > I'm from Massachusetts, and I've had CFS/FM for a long time.
