Hi Courage. I'm sorry about your Uncle's passing. I have to tell you

I really approve of the way you " distracted " your Mom. Don't feel

guilty for it. There is no reason for your Mom to be all anxious and

upset over something that she doesnt need to be upset over. I would

have done the exact same thing. I think " ignorance is bliss " in the

case of LOs like ours. By the way, we have lots in common...my uncle

(dad's brother)lives in Montreal and has AD too.

brother passed away. He lived in Montreal (next province over from

Ontario) so mom didn't get to see him much and we understand that he

had AD. The disturbing thing is that mom's siblings didn't even

bother to call and let us know about it. True, mom has no concept

of who here brother is right now but I still think that they should

have let us know - Lord knows this is one big family and one person

at least could have made a call.

insisted on telling her (I suggested that we didn't) and I watched

mom for a reaction. For a few seconds there I could see mom trying

to process this information and she looked as though she was going

to cry so I flew over to her and held her hand asking her not to be

sad. Mom loves to watch shows about babies on TLC so I quickly re-

directed her attention to this. I hope I didn't do anything wrong

but I hardly see how mom's bawling all over the place would help

things. Mom needs to keep as many functioning brains cells as she

can and I won't have her lose anymore because of added stress and

anxiety. I asked my father not to mention his passing again but if

I know my dad he's probably telling her the news over and over again

all evening.....oiy vey!
