Potato chips or pizza. The yeast in pizza is a killer to me. I assume the chips are due to the starches and the oils. If you remember, when this happened It was the day after the party and out diets weren't the best the day before. Also Marta and I had become ill with a bowel related issue that am so maybe you had a little bit of our bug? Are you still having this problem? I couldn't decide from the email if this was still an issue or if it was the one time you had already told us about. I hope this was a one time or infrequent thing! Guest guest
Okay, here's my long-running problem (pls excuse the pun). On Monday 8/7 I had a hot date. Went around the block 2-3 times for a parking spot. Felt the urge for a BM. Parked, got out and headed for the corner coffee shop. It hit just as I hit the door. By the time I got to the ladies room, I had discharged poop in my bestest white slacks, all over my shoes, and the bathroom floor. I did what I could to clean it up. I actually took off the slacks and rinsed them out, put them back on wet, discarded undies, and went back out looking for a clothing store. Just as I exited, I saw my friend (whom I hadn't seen in several years) walking down the street. I turned swiftly and walked the other direction 2 1/2 blocks til I found a clothing discount store - and gratefully some size 22/24 jeans (I wear a 12/14) which fit me - & were $7. Bagged my soiled slacks in 3 layers of bags and went back to meet my friend. Then yesterday I left the house and got to Staples when I realized I felt this coming on again. It's 1/2 mile, and I knew I'd not make it to their restroom, so may as well head for home. Sure enuf, just out of the car, major explosion, dripping thru the house and into the sanctity of my own bathroom. At least I was able to shower! In the afternoon I drove 25 miles over to the beach and had the same thing happen in the restroom of the restaurant. Had to rinse out the capris, put them on wet, and drive home sitting on 2-3 plastic bags. (No restaurant dinner for me!) Now what in the heck is causing this sudden, violent bursting BM? Help??? Guest guest
Oh Bobbe You poor thing! I think I would be a nervous wreck! Have you eaten anything different? What about Vitamins? My BMs got a bit runny when I starting taking Vit E oil capsules. Thinking of you.... Kristy > > Okay, here's my long-running problem (pls excuse the pun). On Monday > 8/7 I had a hot date. Guest guest
Bobbe, When I have loose, urgent stools I cut back on fat and processed foods. I eat a high fiber diet such as tuna on toasted sprouted grain bread, three meals each day. Drink only water. Those changes do the trick for me, usually after one day. I also wear Depends to bed on those days since I am a cancer survivor and have problems beyond the " normal " DS issues. If and when I stick to this diet, I have no problems. No gas, no loose stools, no nocturnal stools. Marta

I dont have an answer or a reason this happens, but you arent alone. It has happened to me, out of the blue, on several occasions. Once on the way down the canyon to our sons rehearsal dinner... One in a grocery store at lunch, made it almost to the bathroom and ended soiling myself and everything around me. Had to go home etc... And most recently, on the way to Delano last support group meeting. Going down the canyon, all the delays, and in a very long line of cars. Got almost in to B-town and had to pull over by a construction site and open the doors on my car, and go by the side of the road, with everyone driving by....it was a last resort... No change in diet, the only explantation could be nerves...I just dunno. It just happens out of the blue. I am sorry you are going thru this. It is a horrible feeling.... hugs, Sharon in Onyx who is still sitting easy....

I usually am hitt by something from the day before. BUT if I had to guess by looking at what you ate....I'd guess at the potatoes and the cake. Potatoes have starch and that is a biggie for me. (might not be for you) Then the flour and butter and all in the cake. Then again it might be a combination of things? try keeping a food diary a few weeks and look for a pattern. Just an idea.... Guest guest
Yes, Mel, the first episode I described is the one that happened in Bakersfield. Now this evening I went out to a community dinner at the fairgrounds, and knew just before I reached home that it was gonna be a race for the bathroom. It just started coming when I reached the toilet; whew! A little something to clean up and my 2nd shower of the day. I just can't pinpoint it down to something specific. Guest guest
I don't know about you all but that cream cheese frosting on that carrot cake would have me running for the bathroom too as well as the sugar from the carrot cake. Yes, cake in any form is a NO NO for me, lol. I got better things to do with my time. I attend college so the thought of " running " to the bathroom with the possibility of making a mess in my pants scares the heck out of me. I limit my sugars and fats and I stick to the foods that I know won't cause me problems. I have not had a problem. Once when I was 3 months out, I attempted to eat a small ice cream cone. Thank goodness I was home at the time cause I didn't make it to the bathroom. From that point on I have been extremely careful and it has not happened again. I also notice if I eat something I shouldn't, the after effects last longer than a day. It takes a few days to get my system on track again. If I keep eating foods that I shouldn't, the diarhea gets worse and worse. I find it better to just eat healthy so I steer clear of bathroom issues. -- **Wake me up from the nothing that I've become** --------- Re: A question for Dee (lurid) Yes, Mel, the first episode I described is the one that happened in Bakersfield. The Jakes cake was about 1/2 frosting! Mel http://hometown.aol.com/mdl1031/
Guest guest
Dee, you have my list of current meds - plus I am now on Protonix and the generic for Neurontin. But this didn't JUST start. I'll follow Mels advice and begin a food diary to see if I can track down the culprit... starting with a full day of nothing but liquids. Thanks for your response; I'll keep you informed.
