Hi :

Yes, holidays are certainly a trigger for all sorts of emotions!

Drug addicts and alcoholics and overeaters, and even people who

suffer from PMS and depression (like me!) all have to be careful

around holiday time!

And -- with a mother with BPD -- wowee! That's just the icing on the

cake! Ain't we lucky? LOL

Yes.. we need special care and extra love and hugs at holiday time!

And to pay close attention to our emotions.

((()))!

Love, Barb

> I can understand the holiday blues. Holidays always had to be

perfect (still do). And since nothing is perfect all h*ll broke

loose at my house. As a kid my nada would announce loudly and in

such a hurt voice that life was too terrible, not worth living, etc,

take 2--3 Valium and then go in her room to cry/sleep whatever for

the rest of the day. Since our imperfection usually started early in

the am, the rest of the holiday was ruined and we all sat around

wondering if this was the day she was going to finally kill herself.

Now that we are adults and don't live at home, she usually calls us

early in the morning, crying waifishly. Then she proceeds to tell us

for hours at a time why she can't stand life. Usually she is

supposed to drive up to our house (my brothers of mine) to spend the

holiday with us, but of course life is too terrible for that, so we

all end up rearranging our seating arrangements because of course she

won't be able to make it.

them. Last night after spending 20 minutes listening to her whine

that she has lost her church (they don't want her to be a reader)

because they didn't respect her and if respect was a major issue in

her life, on and on and on, I cut in on her monolog and told her I

had to go. Everytime I said something, it would start another long

speech.

Easter.
