It seemed like everyone was getting on the " Chicken Soup " bandwagon--Chicken soup for pet lovers, Chicken Soup for divorcees, Chicken soup for Moms, Daughters, teens, etc.. I bet we had over 1500 of these stupid books on hand! We were all half-way delirious one night putting out MORE Chicken soup books and we started coming up with titles that they'd missed out on. That's what this reminded me of. One girl said " Chicken Soup for the OCD Soul, Chicken Soup for the OCD Soul, reapeat.., " only you open it up and there's only one story over and over and over and over. I provided the ADD version, " Chicken soup for the ADD's soul " --inside there are 19 unfinished stories, some starting in the middle. Somebody else said " really, really super scalding hot chicken soup for the sadomasochist's soul " " Human Soup for the cannibal's soul " " Hichenkc Puos " for the Dyslexic Soul. " " Half-empty bowl of Chicken soup for the pessimist's soul " " You think Chicken Soup will fix what I've got? for the hypochondriac's soul. " " Oops, so sorry I spilled Chicken Soup in your lap again for the passive aggressive's soul. " " Warm water for the Vegan's soul " " Chicken Soup for the Agoraphobic's soul " --FREE SHIPPING! I could go on and on..this lasted for hours.. " Here's your GD Chicken Soup you ungrateful GD F@@%$# brats, now shut the hell up and eat it! " That one was for the " mom's like mine " souls in the world--far before learning of BPD! Not all of them were what you'd call " politically correct " but we laughed until we hurt that night. The funniest part was that between the 5 or 6 of us that were coming up with names, each of us had either a family member or (hehe) ourselves that could really get into reading one of these books.. (well, maybe not the cannibal one(I hope!)) We were all so dysfunctional! Who better to laugh about various disorders besides people like us who were variously disordered?! My version would be " If you want soup, make it yourselves. Just leave me alone! " My mother did the bare minimum in the kitchen after we were old enough to pour cereal.
