Dear :

II meant to write earlier, welcome to our site. My dad died on August 18,

2003. He lost a lot of weight in the last few years of his life. His arms were

left to just the bones, he could not work out with 3 lbs. weights I got for

him. It was so sad. He had always worked out daily and kept trying, but could

not keep even a minimal amout of his muscle mass. It has to be the disease,

my mom is 87 and healthy, bulding up her muscles and even gaining weight after

recuperating from taking care of my dad. So it is not just old age that

makes then loose their body mass.

We didn't have the nh experience, since my dad was functional, although my

mom worked very hard at keeping him as well as possible. He had a stroke on

July 12, 2003, and deteriorated at a very fast pace. He was in the hospital

most

of that time. The nh can keep more control over your mom. Try to keep an

eye on her and be proactive about any problems that start. Don't let things go

on. Take care of yourself. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your

family. Have a peaceful holiday, hugs,

Josie
