Hey Muffy,

I don't use the simpleject thing - I use the syringes. I do have

some suggestions for you though.

Don't let your husband give you the shot, do it yourself. It's

really not as hard as yuo think, once you do it once or twice, it's

so much easier. if you give it to yourself, you can adjust the

needle because you know the amount of pain or discomfort it is

giving you.

Don't get it in the thigh! Use your stomach. it is much less

painful here. I could do enbrel in the thigh, but Kineret I have to

do in the stomach. Avoid stretch marks and stay 2 inches away from

the belly button.

Pinch up some skin and inject in the fold. For some reason this

take some of the sting out.

Make sure the beveled side of the needle is facing down - this makes

a huge difference.

Let the Kineret warm up a bit before injecting.

Push the medication in slowly but steady.

Ice down the area you are going to inject in.

You'll get better at it as you go!

Your husband is right! I found a great use for the simple ject....it looks

great in the garbage can! No seriously...try the syringe itself, and slowly

inject...warm it first. You should be fine. I take it every day and no

worries....once I destroyed the simpleject!

hi, everyone --

i just started my kineret shots last night -- right in the thigh. ouchie! my

husband did it for me using the blue simpleject auto injector my doctor gave

me when he prescribed the kineret. it felt like molten lava being thrust

pumped into my leg at high speed. HIDEOUS! it hurt so much i almost felt

like i might throw up -- and i actually have quite a high threshold for

pain.

now, my question is this: has anyone else used this doo-dad -- and if so,

did you find it to be more painful than just using the syringe alone? my

husband thinks that because it pumps the drug in so quickly and forcefully

and all at once that it may be making the entire procedure worse than it

would otherwise be by just using the syringe itself.

I was on Kineret for 8 months, but it didn't have the self-injector.I also

found it to be incredibly painful! I would take it out of the refrigerator

hold it in my hand to warm it up.And when I injected it I would give it over

1 minute, and if it hurt too much I would slow down the injection.I also did

a little diversion technique that I use when I'm at work giving injections

to patients.I would gently scratch an area of skin next to the area I'm

injecting. It kind of fools your brain. You might want to try icing the area

you're going to inject for 10 minutes.I hope you find this helpful.

Have a great day,Nissa

Hi,

When I was taking Kineret I tried it both ways. (on Enbrel no) I also have a

high pain threshold & it hurt like heck either way. One thing I found is if you

leave it out for 30 minutes prior to injecting it isn't quite as bad. Once I got

used to the simple inject it was the easiest for me to do myself. When just

doing it without the simple inject it was hard not to flinch & sometimes have

the needle come out.

Hope this helps.
